OBJECTIVE:

POSITIONS HELD:
HUD Housing Counselor: (2018- present) Manage Brick Capital’s
Housing Counseling Program including maintaining the files according to
HUD standards, provide services to individual and families seeking
housing counseling assistance in the areas of rental, pre-purchase,
delinquency and foreclosure, advocate on behalf of clients by contacting
landlords, mortgage companies and lenders to help resolve crisis
situations. Connect delinquent borrowers to alternative programs when
appropriate, negotiate new loan terms, refer clients (prepared and
submitted packets for review) to other agencies, research re-financing

Habitat for Humanity Instructor/Counselor: (2015-present)
Contracted Instructor to teach a 8 week series of financial literacy classes
two or three times a year from a Financial Peace curriculum that I
designed, worked with translators, provided pre-purchase individual
counseling to all class participants, provided delinquency counseling to
families and individuals at risk of losing their homes to foreclosure,
attended meetings as needed and provided notes to Habitat-Chatham
County for client files.
Veteran Program Manager: (2016 – May 2017-Program end date)
Contracted Case Management position with EmPOWERment, Inc and
North Carolina Housing Finance Agency - provided housing counseling
sessions to veterans seeking immediate housing assistance. Specifically
assisted clients transitioning from homelessness (living in the woods or
cars) to the shelter or other appropriate housing options, from one rental
unit to another, from pending evictions to stable housing situations and
loan modifications for those on the verge of foreclosure, established
collaborations with various agencies such as the Veteran’s Homelessness
Program, CASA, Section 8, and Volunteer of America.
Habitat- Orange Co. Family Services Director: (2009 – 2016)
Supervised Community Organizer, Closing Assistant and interns from
various programs such as Apples, Johnson Interns, Public Allies and
AmeriCorps/VISTA, choose appropriate participants for the alternate
financing programs through USDA and/or RBC Bank, trained and
monitored Mortgage Specialist in the underwriting of Habitat, Orange
County, Town of Chapel Hill and NCHFA loans, instructed Homebuyers
Education class in the community, presented resource information to the
Work First participants, and provided housing counseling sessions to those
in need at no charge, coordinated Focus Groups for the Town of Chapel
Housing Advisory Committee, mentored and prepared homeowners for
presentations to advocate for funding from the Town of Chapel Hill and
Orange County, pre- sold homes to non-habitat buyer and connect them
with traditional lender, spearheaded staff development projects for the
community such as coordinate devotionals, food drive, fan donation and
volunteer opportunities, recruited and trained groups of knowledgeable
Habitat volunteers to assist with translations such as Karen, Burmese and
Spanish, coordinate and facilitated educational programs such as financial
literacy, budgeting, computer skills and leadership training through the
HOA’S, oversaw the development of the newsletters, provided
delinquency/foreclosure counseling to any homeowner who needs
assistance, maintained charts for state and local audits. Established a credit
counseling program collaborative with RENA (A local community
program and wrote several organizational policies such as Special Needs
Policy, De-selection Policy and Language Access Policy.
Habitat Family Services Coordinator (2006 – 2009) provided pre and
post homeownership counseling in the areas of budgeting, money
management, predatory lending, delinquency and foreclosure, organized
and facilitated orientation, processed applications, prepared 2nd mortgage
assistance packets on clients behalf, coordinated closings with attorney,
coordinated the Family Selection Committee meetings, recruited
interpreters for individual and group meetings/classes, facilitated
community/ homeowners association meetings, conducted homeowners
survey, maintained records and files according to HUD standards, acted as
liaison between families and other agencies, connected families to
community resources, prepared reports as needed for NCHFA, Orange
Co., Habitat Delinquency Committee and Board.
FSS Coordinator/Homeownership Coordinator Chatham Co. Housing
Authority (2005 – 2006) provided individual and group counseling in the
areas of education, personal and employment to (26) Section 8
participates, maintained files according to Federal standards, instructed
monthly workshops on credit, budgeting and the homeownership process,
wrote grants, recruited for program, designed, edited and distributed
newsletter, handled rental crisis, advocated for clients by acting as liaison
between them and landlord, connected clients to resources, attended
monthly agency meetings, worked collaboratively with USDA and North
Carolina Housing Finance Agency to qualify clients for financing through
their programs, attended closing and provide post-homeownership
counseling.
Compensatory Education Instructor (PT) – Durham Technical
Community College (2003 – 2004) Provide instruction/education to 23
special need adults in life skills (money management, safety, and
communication).
State Certified Housing Counselor – EmPOWERment, Inc (1999-
2005) Instructed Homebuyers Education Classes in Chatham and Orange

cost) loan, loss mitigation and post homeownership counseling, acted as

DWI Specialist- OPC (1998 – 1999) Provided DWI assessments, made
appropriate recommendations, provided factual information/referrals to
defendants in court, instructed ADETS and Drug Education School, acted
as liaison between court and mental health center, upgraded program
resources, conferred with other Substance abuse service staff, acquired
training in the areas of teaching methods crisis intervention, case
management and supportive counseling, acquired knowledge in
procedures surrounding in-patient commitments (involuntary and
voluntary) from a legal and mental health point of view.
Community Mental Health Technician- OPC (1996-1998) Worked
closely with court appointed and hired lawyers in matters pertaining to
civil and criminal offenses, guardianship, restraining orders, SSI, and
Social Security, acted as liaison for various agencies (DSS and UNC
Hospital) connected clients to community resources such as churches and
support groups (i.e., NA, AA, Anxiety Disorder and AIDS), assisted
clients with self-sufficiency goals.
VOLUNTEER POSITIONS
Youth Counselor/Parent Advocate (1996- 1998) Led program designed
for 15 – 20 low- wealth youth, provided individual and group sessions in a

in the clinic and /or hospital, acted as secretary for the support group,
designed and mailed the quarterly newsletter and attended national and

WORK EXPERIENCE
As a PSH property manager, I am committed to working toward the goal
