Past ExperienceSince 2000 and while living in New York City, the Associate Director of Supportive Services, Takeema A. Young has worked in housing programs that includes affordable and supportive Housing. In 2000 Ms. Young served as a housing specialist for a workforce/ affordable housing unit, where she screened, interviewed and place candidates in 1 to 3-bedroom apartments. As the housing specialist, she conducted inspections, accepted rental payments, process and disturbed lease agreements, evictions and handled tenant complaints. In 2008, she served as the lead case manager for a residential homeless shelter for dually diagnosis woman. In addition to providing supervision, Takeema conducted intake assessments, complete psychosocial assessments, and housing plans. She prepared and escorted residents to housing interviews. Takeema had the highest number of residents placed in housing within her unit. In 2012, Takeema was offered a job opportunity to oversee a housing project as the assistant director of a newly established supportive housing unit that provided 5O Community Residency/ Single Room Occupancy (CR/SRO) to adults struggling with mental Illness in Island Park, Long Island, in addition to overseeing a 54-unit CR/SRO in Far Rockaway Queens, and a 24-bed unit in Brownsville, Brooklyn. Ms. Young, supervised resident staff, ensure safety of the environment, interviewed, screened and place candidate in units. Currently and within the past year, Ms. Young serves as the Program Manager for East Carolina Community Development Inc. who provides affordable housing units to residents in New Hanover and Onslow Counties. Ms. Young oversees the Healthy Opportunity Pilot in which supervises staff and provides case management services to community residents seeking to move or in need of budgeting and financial counseling. Ms. Young has processed rental assistance payments, moving assistance, and utility payment assistance, she supports participants with their housing search, and has worked with participants receiving Section 8 vouchers.
