CALL TO ORDER: The meeting of the Community Relations Advisory Committee (C-RAC)
was called to order at 5:35 p.m. The location was the Government Center.
QUORUM: A quorum was not established.
Attendees included the following:

OLD BUSINESS:
Update from City staff on reports of discrimination - Mr. Conway indicated that there
were no incidents of discrimination to report.
Update from County staff on reports of discrimination – Ms. Thompson indicated that
there were no incidents of discrimination to report beyond the hate crimes listed in the
document that was circulated with the meeting agenda.
Update on NHCS Initiative – No vote to write a letter to EDI due to lack of quorum.
Vote on subcommittee meetings/structure – No vote due to lack of quorum.
NEW BUSINESS:
Report on meeting with Liz, Kirsten, Joe and Linda - Ms. Carbone discussed the major
points of the meeting, and a material packet will be provided to new members along with
an introductory call from the chair.
Discuss January Retreat for C-RAC members – We discussed the possibility of an
th
extended meeting from 5 – 7 with dinner on our planned meeting date (the 4 Tuesday of
the month). The group agreed that keeping our regular January date will work. Liz will
send some materials ahead of the retreat to prepare the group for a productive meeting.
PUBLIC COMMENTS– None.
ANNOUNCEMENTS – Ms. Rhodes updated the group on the Thanksgiving giveaway that
provided food to 1000 people. She also provided an update about Medicaid expansion
information sessions in New Hanover County residents (weeks of December 6 & 13). Ms.
Thompson reported on an equity assessment for New Hanover County – she will report on the
assessment at the January retreat, including information about a water crisis related to PFAS in
well water in underserved communities.
ADJOURNMENT: The meeting adjourned at 6:10 p.m.
