Adjournment NEW HANOVER COUNTY PARKS ADVISORY BOARD PAGE 2 REGULAR MEETING DECEMBER 6, 2023 ASSEMBLY The Parks Advisory Board held its regular meeting on Wednesday, December 6, 2023, at the Airlie Cottage. There was not a quorum. Present: John Hinnant 鉌ltjtrê, Caleb Rash, and Carol Hunter. Gayle Tabor, Lindy Ford, and Ryan Blisplinghoff provided notice. Absent: Stephanie Walker Staff: Tara Duckworth, Latashia Smith, and Tanya Gurganious Since a quorum was not present, no action was taken. A summary of discussion is below. Hanover Pines ribbon cutting is tentatively set for Martin Luther King Jr. holiday week, assuming it is warm enough to pave. The project manager for Brawley was let go so communication has been a challenge. The asphalt for Hanover Pines is set to start this week (weather pending). North College Road and South College Road trail projects are moving along at 75% design. Waiting for the Department of Transportation to review design. Grant for North College Road trail is an 80/20 split. Federal Government will pay 80% and the county will pay 20%. We are beginning to secure right of way for the project. Smith Creek Park Phase 2 will go through the Technical Review Committee review at their next meeting. Permitting is underway. Bidding and construction should begin in late spring. LED lighting will be installed at Northern Regional Park pickleball courts in January 2024. Construction of additional park improvements should begin in late spring or early summer. Improvements include: two new lighted rectangular fields, a restroom, an all-wheels pump track, and a roadway and parking lot. Long Leaf Park bridge replacement design will be underway shortly. Trails End Pier redesign is currently underway. Respectfully submitted, Latashia N.
