Assembly:
The Library Advisory Board met in Regular Session on Thursday, March 21st at 1:30 pm at the
Northeast Library – 1241 Military Cutoff Rd.

Chair Patricia Lawler convened the meeting at 1:30 pm.
Public Comment
No public comments.
Agenda Review
No changes.
Approval of Previous Minutes
The minutes from the last board meeting on February 15, 2024, were sent to the board prior to
the meeting for review.
Motion: Harriet Smith MOVED, SECONDED by Emily Colin, to accept the minutes of the
2/15/24 meeting as written. Upon vote, the MOTION WAS CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY.
Correspondence
None received.
Friends of the Library
Tom Brimberry was unable to attend today’s meeting and emailed his report.
The Friends of the NHC Library met last week and reported the following:
• Three book clubs are active. Last Saturday they met at NE and discussed “The Women’s Hour”
by Elaine Weiss.
• Planning a new location for a StoryWalk.
• Williston Middle School’s outstanding students were recognized this week with Rotary.
• Funds and members are growing.
• Plans underway for a Fall downtown walking tour.
Library Foundation
The board meets quarterly. Their next meeting is in May.
Director’s Report
Dana submitted the following report:
Projects
• Project Grace – Since the groundbreaking in February, the crew has been on site daily.
We are started looking at furniture and shelving. The July/August 2025 opening is still
on track.
• Northchase – We are selecting colors, finishes and furniture. The land has been cleared
and new dirt has been placed on site. Bidding will go out soon. There will be a
groundbreaking this summer. Opening is slated for Oct – Dec 2025.
o Purchasing plans are underway for our collection at this branch.

o Allison King – Part Time @ Northeast (children’s) – started 3/5
o Alyssa Sabella – Part Time @ Pine Valley – started 3/19
o Dee Smith – Library Associate @ Pleasure Island – started 3/19
o Tiffany Savage – Library Supervisor @ Pine Valley – starts 4/2
• Continuous Learning
o 21 Day Racial Equity Challenge – Optional to staff.
o Weeding Summit – Discussions with staff on how/why.
Other
• Strategic Plan – has been presented to all staff.
• Budget – to be approved in May/June

New Business
New Policy for The Library of Things

The Library of Things collection contains a variety of educational and entertaining kits for
patrons to take home and try out. Library cardholders can check out one kit at a time for a
period of 3 weeks.
The policy was reviewed and discussed.
Motion: Christine Hennessey MOVED, SECONDED by Linda Miles, to adopt the Library of
Things policy as written. Upon vote, the MOTION WAS CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY.

Northeast Branch Mgr., Leigh Thomas presented Novelist Plus to the Board.
