Review of September 8, 2021, Meeting Minutes
Teresa Smith, LEPC Chair, had distributed the minutes by email prior to the meeting. Teresa Smith moved to accept the minutes as written. Randy Wright seconded. he minutes were approved
as written
LEPC 20222 Office Election Results
Tina Kuhr announced the results of the election for LEPC officers for 2022. They are:
Chairperson – Teresa Smith, NHC Emergency Management
Vice-Chairperson – Sarah Taylor, Pender County Emergency Management
Secretary – Tina Kuhr, GE Hitachi
HazMat Tabletop Exercise After Action Report and Improvement Plan
Scot Brooks from CRISISTEC reviewed the draft Tabletop Exercise After Action Report and Improvement Plan. The scenario was based on a fire involving hazardous materials at Elementis.
New Hanover and Pender Counties were able to accomplish the exercise objectives without any challenges. Scot reviewed the specific objectives and associated Strengths and Areas for
Improvement. He also reviewed the proposed recommendations for the Improvement Plan, as well as the action owners and schedule.
Feedback from exercise participants was very positive. The group thanked Scot and the exercise planning team for an excellent exercise and scenario. There was significant representation
from the LEPC and other agencies, including some from the surrounding area, at the tabletop.
New Business
Cole Owen, Assistant State Hazardous Materials Manager, introduced himself and Sue Robinson, State Risk Management Program (RMP) Coordinator, as new NC Emergency Management personnel
supporting the State’s Hazardous Materials Program and Regional Response Team.
The LEPC Planning Committee is preparing for the Cape Fear Emergency Planning Conference scheduled for February 15, 2022. Registration will be through TERMS.
Adjournment
Tommy Batson moved that the meeting be adjourned. Natosha Vincent seconded. The meeting was adjourned at 11:36 AM.
Next meeting
The next LEPC meeting is tentatively scheduled for the second Wednesday in January 2022.
