HomeMy WebLinkAboutCF Habitat Letters of Support July 31, 2024 To Whom It May Concern: I am writing this letter to express support for the pending grant application of Cape Fear Habitat for Humanity. Cape Fear Habitat for Humanity has partnered with New Hanover County through the Non- County Agency funding program since 2022. This partnership has resulted in $140,000 in funding for affordable housing for New Hanover County residents. New Hanover County recognizes that nonprofit organizations serve an important role in improving the quality of life for our community by delivering services to our citizens in a cost-effective manner through the use of partnerships. Cape Fear Habitat for Humanity demonstrates meaningful contributions to meeting the county’s strategic objectives and supports the delivery of key services to residents. Affordable housing is a critical need in our county, Cape Fear Habitat is a significant partner in addressing this need. In the past two years, Cape Fear Habitat for Humanity has closed on 30 new homes and has completed 33 critical home repairs in New Hanover County. In conclusion, I support the efforts of Cape Fear Habitat for Humanity as they seek funding to support their critical mission. Sincerely, Amanda Kostusiak Budget Officer AK/gh To Whom It May Concern, I wanted to take a moment to share some of Lifepoint’s experiences in partnering with Habitat For Humanity. It began with a tour of their facility where I was able to see and learn about all of the different aspects of their organization; how they work hard to equip, empower and educate future homeowners to be and feel successful. I was so impressed with the level of care and detail they put into training, organizing and communicating with organizations, volunteers and future homeowners. We have had volunters help on homes with everything from building walls, installing hardware, painting the exterior, and doing landscaping. Each experience has been memorable, enjoyable, and educational. Working alongside the future homeowners is always a joy. Getting to experience their hope and joy first hand and hearing about the time, work and effort they have put in is inspiring and encouraging. This year, Lifepoint Church contributed $30,000 towards the Habitat Unity Build which went towards two homes. We were able to be at the wall raising and the housewarming, and both were exceptional events. In my role at Lifepoint Church, I receive calls for financial assistance often. The housing crisis in Wilmington is deeply effecting people in poverty, but it’s also effecting middle class homes in serious ways. Habitat For Humanity is making home ownership and living stability possible for teachers, emergency responders and other vocations here in Wilmington. We appreciate Habitat for their hand up as opposed to a hand out mentality. We are grateful for the impact they are making in our communities and we are looking forward to partnering with them in many ways in the future. 1 / 1 August 2, 2024 To Whom it May Concern, Novant Health New Hanover Regional Medical Center has a long history of partnership with Cape Fear Habitat for Humanity. Their work in the region has helped many families be able to own a home and thrive, which we know connects back to overall health. We are supportive of how Habitat works to build financial stability and self-reliance for homeowners and how they truly pull the community in to building each home. Over the years, not only have we given financially, but Habitat has hosted many volunteer opportunities for our team members, and best of all, many Novant Health employees have become first-time homeowners through Habitat’s program. We are grateful for the work Habitat does here in our region, and we plan to continue to support them in their future programs and projects, because we can see the fruit of their labor here in Wilmington and throughout the Cape Fear Region. We are supportive of Cape Fear Habitat for Humanity as they seek funding for their Repair Program and additional future programming, and we look forward to continuing our outstanding partnership with this organization. Thank you for your consideration. Victoria Bellamy Manager, Community Engagement Novant Health’s Coastal Region
