Public comments: No public comments New members introduction: No new members V. Old Business A. Floor open for comments on Cameron Art Museum screening on Black Resilience. Responds favorable, suggestion made to work with resiliency efforts and schools. B. Further Collaboration with Resiliency Taskforce: Open discussion C. Commission engagement: Discussion on sponsoring and or co-sponsoring a program and what would that look like? Commissioners encouraged to email ideas to Manuel Lloyd. Suggestions shared to the committee by Dr. Lowell Davis, Mr. Marcus Lacewell, and Mrs. Deborah Maxwell. D. Next Committee Meeting March 10, 2022 VI. New Business A. Race and Social Justice Institute: Healing the Racial Divide in Education Information shared with the Commissioner on the second annual Race and Social Justice Institute: Healing the Racial Divide in Education occurring virtually on February 15 via Zoom. Subject for this session; Policy and Things that Shape Where We are Now. B. Black History Month Involvement: Ms. J’vanete Skiba shared information concerning DC Virgo hosting a Read In. Volunteers are being recruited; a virtual option is available. Email Ms. Skibo with interest. Carter Edwards shared MLK Center having movie night every Friday night starting at 5:00 PM. Ms. J. Skiba shared the next resiliency talk will be at Cameron Art th Museum March 5. Ms. Skiba to send information to Manuel Lloyd C. Juneteenth: Suggest our committee have an active part. Will discuss at next meeting. VII. Announcements A. UNCW Martin Luther King Celebration shared by Manuel Lloyd UNCW Gospel Concert this Sunday, February 13 at 3:30 PM tickets are free B. CFCC BHM Festivities Women's Basketball Game and Business Fair in the Swartz's Center February 15 at 6:00 PM. Tickets are $5.00. Food trucks will be present. Movie and a Message; showing of three documentaries on February 17 at UNCW Union Station. The following will be showing Good Trouble at 1:00 PM, Freedom Summer at 3:00 PM, and Wilmington on Fire at 5:00 PM. Locate more information on the Cape Fear Community College website Men's Basketball Game and Art Showcasing February 18 at 6:00 PM Tickets are $5.00. Food Trucks will be present VIII.
