Wilmington, NC 28403 RE: REVISED Approval of the Traffic Impact Analysis (TIA) associated with the proposed Carolina Beach Road Development New Hanover County, NC
The WMPO, NCDOT, and New Hanover County staffs have reviewed the Carolina Beach Road Development TIA dated January 17, 2018. This Development consists of:
• 20,320 SF of Discount Store
• 14,830 SF of Shopping Center The build out year is 2022. 2023 Based on review of the analysis provided in the TIA report, the following improvements are required by the developer: US 421 (Carolina Beach Road) at South Ridge Boulevard (conversion to a directional crossover by W-5103A
• No improvements are recommended. US 421 (Carolina Beach Road) at Cathay Road (SR 1276) (signalized full movement T-intersection)
• Increase the southbound U-turn lane on Carolina Beach Road to provide 525 feet 325 feet of storage, 50 feet of full-width deceleration and appropriate taper. US 421 (Carolina Beach Road) at Site Access 1 (RIRO)
• Provide right-in/right-out only site access.
• Access must meet the minimum 100 feet corner clearance from South Ridge Boulevard.
