(RKA) for the proposed Middle Sound Loop Senior Apartments located on Middle Sound Loop Road just west of Sunnybranch Road in Wilmington, North Carolina. The proposed development is anticipated to consist of a 72 attached senior adult housing dwelling units. Average weekday daily, AM peak hour trips, and PM peak hour trips for the proposed development were estimated using methodology contained within the 10th Edition of the ITE Trip Generation Manual. Traffic volumes for Senior Adult Housing - Attached (ITE Code 252) were generated utilizing ITE equations [for the peak hour adjacent street traffic] and dwelling units as the independent variable. Refer to Table 1 for a breakdown of the trip generation for the proposed development. Table 1: Site Trip Generation Land Use (ITE Code) Independent Variable Average Weekday Daily Traffic (vpd) AM Peak Hour Trips (vph) PM Peak Hour Trips (vph) Enter Exit Enter Exit Senior Adult Housing - Attached (252) 72 Dwelling Units 264 5 9 11 9 It is estimated the proposed development will generate 264 daily trips (in and out) during a typical 24-hour weekday period with 14 total trips (5 entering and 9 exiting) generated during the AM peak hour and 20 total trips (11 entering and 9 exiting) during the PM peak hour. The expected daily and peak hour trip generation are well below the WMPO’s [1,000 vpd daily and 100 vph] and NCDOT’s [3,000 vpd] thresholds; therefore, a Traffic Impact Analysis (TIA) should not be warranted based on each agency’s guidelines.
