Adjournment Next meeting: November 18, 2025 NEW HANOVER COUNTY PARKS CONSERVANCY BOARD PAGE 2 REGULAR MEETING JULY 15, 2025 ASSEMBLY The Parks Conservancy Board held its regular meeting on Tuesday, May 20, 2025, at 3:00 pm. The meeting was a parks tour meeting that took place off site. Staff toured the parks in the northern section of the county. Present: Dana Lingenfelser, Walter Whaley, Monty Hobbs, Dave Ellegood, Cassidy Santiguida, Nivine Richie, Susanne Werner, Wood Flynn, Leanne Pierce, and Mark Ihnat Excused: Sean Olds, Hillary Stevens Absent: Rex Burford Staff: Tanya Gurganious and Latashia Smith WELCOME AND APPROVAL OF MINUTES Dana Lingenfelser welcomed everyone in attendance and called the meeting to order. She asked if everyone had a chance to review the minutes and asked if there were any changes. Mark noticed that inadvertently listed as making a motion to approve the minutes in the previous meeting. Hearing no other changes, the following motion was made: MOTION: Mark Ihnat MOVED; Dave Ellegood SECONDED, to approve the May minutes as amended. Upon vote, the MOTION CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY. Financial Report. Received $4,436.08 from the Food Truck Rodeo. Donations received for 2 benches at Ogden Park and 2 at Long Leaf Park. The interest received for the month of June was $6.16. Expenses for bench plaques was $87.74. Staff Report. Submitted grants to USTA, USTA Southern, USTA North Carolina for the 5 clay courts at Echo Farms. Plan to submit a grant to the North Carolina Public Beach and Waterfront Access grant program. The grant is to improve accessibility at Trails End Park by enhancing accessibility with a pervious concrete pad for handicap parking with a connection to the sidewalk and a dedicated non- motorized launch to the left of the existing launch. Plan to submit a grant to the Wilmington Metropolitan Planning Organization for construction of a multi-use path from S. College Road/17th Street to Piner Road. Signage in all parks will be changed to reflect the new rules regarding E-Bikes and speed limits. Old Business/New Business: The board discussed various fundraising strategies and online to provide greater accessibility, rather than requiring individuals to visit the cottage. Wood proposed the possibility of placing the cards in the Blue Moon Gift Shop to broaden visibility. ADJOURNMENT Since there was no further business there was a motion to adjourn. MOTION: Nivine Richie MOVED; Mark Ihnat SECONDED. Motion carried. The meeting adjourned at 6:25 pm.
