HomeMy WebLinkAboutPksConservBd Minutes Apr 2017ASSEMBLY The Parks Conservancy Board held its regular meeting on Tuesday, April 18, 2017 at 5:30pm in Conference Room 119, 230 Government Center Drive, Wilmington NC. Present: Jeremy Wilson (presiding), Justin Gibson, Anne Murray, Jessica Wilson, Paul Smith and Commissioner Rob Zapple. Absent: Eric Blaesing, Faye Brock, Janeth Dill, Tori Jones, Cindy Kauth, Richard Lawson and Comer Lyons. Staff: Tara Duckworth, Tanya Gurganious, Andy Johnson, Janine Powell and Jodi Rich. WELCOME AND APPROVAL OF MINUTES The meeting was called to order by Jeremy Wilson who welcomed those in attendance. For the benefit of the new board members, he asked that everyone introduce themselves. After introductions were made, he then asked for a motion to approve the minutes of the March meeting. MOTION: Anne Murray MOVED; SECONDED by Jeremy Wilson, that the minutes of the March 21st meeting be approved. Upon vote, the MOTION CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY. 1. Treasurer’s Report. In Janeth’s absence, Janine Powell shared that there was just one deposit which was for Plant an Azalea. (Plant an Azalea continues to be a steady stream of income at about $200/month.) Director’s Report. Tara Duckworth shared that the Trash Mob will take place on Saturday morning (April 22nd) at various locations. Jodi Rich added that the event will run from 9-11am and there are about 65 volunteers. Jodi also shared that the official word has been received from the DOT granting permission for Harris Road to be adopted by the Parks Conservancy. Information will be sent out to the board. Tara shared that we have flash drives which contain pertinent information about parks as well as the challenge course video, for new members. Food Truck Rodeo. Janine shared Food Truck Rodeo posters and asked those present to take a few to share. She also reminded everyone that the skatepark ribbon cutting would take place at 2:00pm during the rodeo. Food Truck Rodeo proceeds will go towards the challenge course project which will be installed at Northern Regional Park. Operations Report. The following projects have recently been completed: Ogden Park: basketball court installed, lights installed in the dog park; Hugh MacRae Park: splash pad opening and lights installed at the basketball court. Additionally, new LED lights are slated to be installed at Ogden Park tennis courts along with court resurfacing in the coming weeks. Committee Reports. Think about businesses we can contact with whom we can establish a working relationship. Next Meeting Date. The next meeting will take place on Tuesday, May 16th. ADJOURNMENT MOTION: Anne Murray MOVED; SECONDED by Jeremy Wilson, that the meeting be adjourned. Upon vote, the MOTION CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY. The meeting adjourned at 6:03pm.
