Eric Blaesing reminded those present that this is a fundraising board and it is expected that board members will make some sort of donation. Commissioner Zapple suggested donations be made by board members to go towards a staff appreciation luncheon to acknowledge all of the hard work put in by the staff. The following motion was presented: MOTION: Fay Brock MOVED; SECONDED by Commissioner Zapple, that the board raise $1,000 for a staff appreciation luncheon. Upon vote, the MOTION CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY. (Donations would go into the unrestricted account.) Attendance Policy. Eric Blaesing briefly touched on the fact that there is an attendance policy, and he has some concerns regarding the lack of participation from a few of the members. Food Truck Rodeo Recap. Eric shared that the event was great. The weather cooperated and there was lots of good food, music and a great crowd. He had some concerns about the lack of board presence at the event. However, it was suggested that some sort of banner be put up for the next event so that when board members show up, they know where to go to check in. The next Food Truck Rodeo is scheduled for Sunday, April 23rd at Ogden Park. Selection of Specific Funding Project. Tara shared a Power Point presentation detailing three possible funding projects for the board to undertake as its next fundraising opportunity. There are as follows: a. Retrofit the playground formerly located at Hugh MacRae Park to Northern Regional Park. b. Installation of a Challenge Course at Northern Regional Park. (Great grant opportunity available) c. Exofit station at Northern Regional, Smith Creek or Summer Rest Trail. (Grant potential) After some discussion, it was felt that the installation of a challenge course would be the best opportunity. Tara will gather more details for follow-up discussions at the next meeting. Non-Agenda Items. Need to discuss whether a registration fee should be charged for the vendors at the Food Truck Rodeo. Janine Powell asked for the board approval of her submitting a Letter of Inquiry to the Cape Fear Memorial Foundation. The County Commissioners have approved the application for a grant to have a splash pad built at Ogden Park. Next Meeting Date. There will be no December meeting due to its close proximity to Christmas and staff having to work at Enchanted Airlie. The next meeting will take place on January 17th.
