ASSEMBLY
The Parks Conservancy Board held its regular meeting on Tuesday, October 18, 2016 at 5:30pm in Conference Room 119, 230 Government Center Drive, Wilmington NC.
Present, Eric Blaesing, Janeth Dill, Tori Jones, Cindy Kauth, Richard Lawson, Comer Lyons, Anne Murray and Kelsie Obernuefemann.
Absent: Faye Brock, Beth Crookham, Aileen Sutton, Jeremy Wilson and Commissioner Rob Zapple.
Staff: Tara Duckworth, Tanya Gurganious, Andy Johnson and Janine Powell.
WELCOME AND APPROVAL OF MINUTES
The meeting was called to order by Eric Blaesing who welcomed everyone in attendance. Eric then asked for a motion to approve the minutes of the September meeting.
MOTION: Richard Lawson MOVED; SECONDED by Janeth Dill, that the minutes of the September 20th meeting be approved. Upon vote, the MOTION CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY.
1. Treasurer’s Report. Janeth Dill reviewed the September financials. There was no big change from the prior month other than a small donation of $25.
Director’s Report. Tara Duckworth reported that staff is busy with debris cleanup due to Hurricane Matthew. The annual Oyster Roast will take place this coming Friday, October 21st.
Additionally, the Food Truck Rodeo will take place this Sunday at Hugh MacRae Park from 12-5pm. The weather looks good so we are expecting a large crowd. Work on the master plan is
winding down, with a final draft expected in just a few days. Once it is reviewed by County Management, it will be sent out to both the Parks Advisory and Parks Conservancy boards.
Construction continues on the Ogden skate park, Hugh MacRae splash pad and basketball court at Northern Regional Park.

Progress Update/Fundraising. Construction is progressing nicely. Would like to do something to thank all of the sponsors at the grand opening. Fermental has offered to hold another fundraiser
to benefit the skate park in the fall.
Food Truck Rodeo. Eric shared that he sent out a note to all the trucks. He then handed out a list of all of the trucks that are participating. Information about the Food Truck has been
shared on social media, What’s on Wilmington, Star News and Port City Daily. Looking forward to a big crowd.
Committee Reports. There was some discussion on the board’s committee structure. Tara will bring a list of committees, their chairs and members to November’s meeting. A list of projects
for the board to select from will also be shared at the next meeting.
Non-Agenda Items. Tara shared that there is a grant available through NC Connect that we will be applying for to construct a splash pad at Ogden Park. She is also looking for other
grants and plans to meet with the health department for their assistance in identifying grants.

MOTION: Anne Murray MOVED; SECONDED by Tori Jones, that the meeting be adjourned. Upon vote, the MOTION CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY.
The meeting adjourned at 6:11pm.
