HomeMy WebLinkAboutPksConservBd Minutes Sep 2016 ASSEMBLY The Parks Conservancy Board held its regular meeting on Tuesday, September 20, 2016 at 5:30pm in Conference Room 119, 230 Government Center Drive, Wilmington NC. Present, Cindy Kauth, Comer Lyons, Janeth Dill, Anne Murray, Kelsie Obernuefemann, Richard Lawson and Commissioner Rob Zapple. Absent: Eric Blaesing, Faye Brock, Beth Crookham, Tori Jones, Aileen Sutton and Jeremy Wilson. Staff: Tara Duckworth, Tanya Gurganious, Andy Johnson and Janine Powell. WELCOME AND APPROVAL OF MINUTES The meeting was called to order by Richard Lawson. MOTION: Anne Murray MOVED; SECONDED by Rob Zapple, that the minutes of the August 16th meeting be approved. Upon vote, the MOTION CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY. 1. Treasurer’s Report. Janeth reviewed the August financials. Director’s Report. Tara Duckworth shared a picture of the new outdoor gym which was recently installed at Ogden Park, adding that it fits in well with the one-mile walking trail. (Commissioner Zapple asked if the board could get a number of how many people use the walking trails.) The permit for the Splashpad has been received and we anticipate it will be completed in about four weeks. The skate park is moving along. The draft of the master plan has been received and that information will be shared with the board at an upcoming meeting. The Airlie Oyster Roast will take place Friday, October 21st. Ogden Skate Park Progress Update. Fundraising. It was reported that $120,000 has been given back to the county as the board’s contribution to the skate park. It is really strong for us as a board to be able to do that as our first big project. The Food Truck Rodeo is coming up this month. Additionally, another fundraising event is being planned at Fermental. Food Truck Rodeo. This event will take place on Sunday, October 23rd. The board is encouraged to sign up to assist. The event has been publicized very heavily on social media and we are expecting a great turnout. Non-Agenda Items. The issue of a possible new meeting time was discussed. It was decided that an email would be sent out to the board asking if they would prefer the current time or either 8am or 4:30pm. ADJOURNMENT MOTION: Anne Murray MOVED; SECONDED by Rob Zapple, that the meeting be adjourned. Upon vote, the MOTION CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY. The meeting adjourned at 6:18pm.
