HomeMy WebLinkAboutPksConservBd Minutes Apr 2018ASSEMBLY The Parks Conservancy Board held its regular meeting on Tuesday, April 17th, 2018 at 5:30pm in Conference Room 119, 230 Government Center Drive, Wilmington, NC. Present: Eric Blaesing (presiding), Janeth Dill, Tori Jones, Comer Lyons, Paul Smith, Jeremy Wilson Jessica Wilson and Commissioner Rob Zapple. Excused: Justin Gibson and Anne Murray. Absent: Faye Brock, Cindy Kauth and Richard Lawson. Staff: Tanya Gurganious, Andy Johnson, Janine Powell and Jodi Rich. WELCOME AND APPROVAL OF MINUTES The meeting was called to order by Eric Blaesing who welcomed those in attendance. He then asked for a motion to approve the minutes of the February 20th meeting. MOTION: Jeremy Wilson MOVED, SECONDED by Tori Jones that the minutes of the February 20th meeting be approved. Upon vote, the MOTION CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY. 1. Treasurer’s Report. Janeth Dill reviewed the financials as of March 31st. Total account balance was $24,465. Income received in March totaled $1,065. Expenses totaled $212.14 for t-shirts and credit card charges. 2. Director’s Report. Andy Johnson reported that the skatepark bowl will be reconstructed by Grindline at no cost to the County. The snake run leakage will also be fixed. A Gold Star Memorial was approved by the County Commissioners and will be installed at Hugh MacRae Park right beside the current memorial. The installation should be completed sometime in September. The Middle Sound Loop Road path will be completed by the end of May. The department has begun managing the outdoor areas at the Arboretum. Mark Blevins is the interim director. They will continue their functions; we will manage outdoor grounds with the assistance of the Master Gardener Program. A Trash Mob will take place tomorrow. Everyone will meet at Pantana Bobs at 10am. Board member Jessica Wilson and some of her fellow co-workers are coming out to help. 3. Coastal Challenge Update. Possible date for the next Fitness Challenge is November 10th. Many of those who attended said the event should start a little later. 4. Rodeo Recap. The board watched a short video which was created for social media. Eric shared a handout of the various outlets where the event has been publicized. Also, Jodi will be interviewed on WECT’s “First at Four” show on Thursday, April 26th. Board members were asked to sign up to help out during the event. 5. Next Meeting Date. The next meeting will take place on Tuesday, May 15th. ADJOURNMENT MOTION: Jeremy Wilson MOVED; SECONDED by Tori Jones, that the meeting be adjourned. Upon vote, the MOTION CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY. The meeting adjourned at 6:04pm.
