WELCOME AND APPROVAL OF MINUTES
The meeting was called to order by Eric Blaesing. He then asked if there were any changes or corrections to the minutes of the December meeting. There were none noted. The following
motion was presented:
MOTION: Jeremy Wilson MOVED, SECONDED by Faye Brock that the minutes of the September meeting be approved. Upon vote, the MOTION CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY.
1. Treasurer’s Report. Janeth gave an update on our financials. Commissioner Zapple asked if any of the income was restricted in what it could be used for. (We have the following restrictions:
Plant an Azalea, Veterans Park Beautification, Hugh MacRae and Memorial Tree line items are all restricted in use.)
2. Director’s Report. Tara Duckworth reported that the upcoming Trash Mob has been moved to January 24th due to expected bad weather. We had a successful Trash Mob on Saturday, January
13th. We picked up 14 bags of trash and 5 bags of recyclables. We have also decided to conduct monthly Trash Mob pick-ups on the 3rd Wednesday of each month.
Rodeo Recap. The next Rodeo will take place on April 29th at Ogden Park and ten trucks have committed. (Three trucks from Raleigh are interested.) We have collected $659 from the October
Rodeo. Eric sent out a reminder this morning & will continue to follow-up. Commissioner Zapple suggested we make the trucks pay an entry fee as a “deposit” before the event to ensure
we get some money from them. Eric stated it is too late to do this for the April event, but we will discuss this going forward.
Coastal Challenge Update. For this event, we are not doing raffle or sponsors for logistical reasons. Michelle Fogle gave an update on planning for the event. Hoping to have eight
classes with around 20 participants in each class, paying $15/class. She shared that volunteers are needed. (Staff will email the board a request for help. Anne Murray is putting in
a request for GE volunteers.) Board members were also asked to help spread the word about the event. Anne asked what we could do for the instructors who are volunteering their time
and the group decided to give them a t-shirt. We will also sell t-shirts at the Conservancy tent during the event.
Next Meeting Date. The next meeting will take place on Tuesday, March 20th.
ADJOURNMENT
MOTION: Jeremy Wilson MOVED; SECONDED by Comer Lyons, that the meeting be adjourned. Upon vote, the MOTION CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY.
Respectfully submitted,
Tanya Gurganious
