The Parks Conservancy Board held its regular meeting on Tuesday, July 18, 2017 at 5:30pm in Conference Room 119, 230 Government Center Drive, Wilmington, NC.
Present: Eric Blaesing (presiding), Janeth Dill, Justin Gibson, Cindy Kauth, Anne Murray, Tori Jones, Comer Lyons, Paul Smith and Jessica Wilson.
Absent: Faye Brock, Richard Lawson, Jeremy Wilson and Commissioner Rob Zapple.
Staff: Tara Duckworth, Tanya Gurganious, Andy Johnson, Janine Powell and Jodi Rich.
WELCOME AND APPROVAL OF MINUTES
The meeting was called to order by Eric Blaesing who welcomed those in attendance. He then asked for a motion to approve the minutes of the June 20th meeting.
MOTION: Comer Lyons MOVED; SECONDED by Tori Jones, that the minutes of the June 20th meeting be approved. Upon vote, the MOTION CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY.
1. Treasurer’s Report. Janeth reported that the current account balance is $11,750. Our income for the year is 1,769. She also shared that tax exemption letter reinstating the conservancy
as a 501(c) 3 was received from the IRS. She will start working on filing the taxes for last year.
Director’s Report. Tara Duckworth shared that the skate park has had some recent vandalism in the form of spray painting. Security cameras are in place and we hope to find and prosecute
the culprits. Tara also passed around a copy of two different challenge courses for the board to take a look at. She also shared a short video clip of the Apex, NC course.
Food Truck Rodeo. Eric Blaesing shared the there was a somewhat slow but steady crowd at the Food Truck Rodeo recently held on Father’s Day. Current revenue received from that event
was $689.50.
The fall Food Truck Rodeo will take place on Sunday, October 29th at Hugh MacRae Park.
Coastal Challenge Course Fundraising. Tori Jones shared information she has put together for a boot camp fundraiser. She sat down with representatives from Gold’s Gym to discuss the
possibilities. Looking to have an event on a Saturday at Hugh MacRae Park from 9-3pm. Hoping to have 1 boot camp event each hour. Each boot camp would hold 40 participants, with each
participant acquiring a sponsor(s). Hoping to get participants to sign up electronically so the money would be collected ahead of time. There will be a need for people to approach
different gyms and/or personal trainers along with area businesses. Additionally, there will be a need for six boot camp instructors, way for participants to sign up/donate, posters,
press releases, Facebook Page, etc. A subcommittee for this endeavor will consist of: Janine Powell, Jessica Wilson and Paul Smith will discuss further.
Next Meeting Date. The next meeting will take place on Tuesday, August 15th.

MOTION: Justin Gibson MOVED; SECONDED by Comer Lyons, that the meeting be adjourned. Upon vote, the MOTION CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY.
The meeting adjourned at 6:24pm.
