WELCOME AND APPROVAL OF MINUTES
The meeting was called to order by Eric Blaesing who welcomed those in attendance. There was no quorum. The minutes will be approved at the April meeting.
1. Treasurer’s Report. The financials were handed out. Janine Powell shared that there were no significant changes or updates to report. The board had no questions.
2. Director’s Report. Tara Duckworth reported that there is seepage coming from the bottom of the bowl at the skatepark. It is still under warranty so it is expected that Grindline
will repair it. They are working with ECS to remedy the problem. We have asked Grindline for a stamped engineer drawing. Additionally, we are working with the Tony Hawk Foundation to
modify the bowl. Vandalism has again become an increasing problem at the parks. Specifically, at Smith Creek Park where the fourth little free library was destroyed and fires set. We
received news coverage and asked neighbors in the surrounding community to assist if they see something by calling the police. Recently met with a company that is offering free security
cameras at Smith Creek. They’ve told us the quality of the cameras will allow us to catch future vandals. We are working on capital improvement projects. The trail at Middle Sound Loop
is coming along nicely. The Park Preserve at Pages Creek is also looking good. Staff will be applying for grants in the hopes of getting funds for a kayak launch.
3. Rodeo Recap. The next Rodeo will be Apr 29th at Ogden Park. Eric shared a handout of vendors who have signed up. He anticipates we will end up with well over 20 trucks with several
new ones from the Raleigh/Cary area. We will need to discuss a plan for a more formal backup date for future rodeos.
4. Coastal Challenge Update. Tori shared that she is hoping more people will sign up to help fill up the classes which will start at 8am. Need board members on hand to talk about the
conservancy. We will have t-shirts for sale with enough to also give to class instructors. Participants will need to check in and sign a liability waiver.
6. Next Meeting Date. The next meeting will take place on Tuesday, April 17th.
The meeting adjourned at 6:01pm.
Respectfully submitted,
Tanya Gurganious
Administrative Coordinator
