HomeMy WebLinkAboutPksConservBoard Minutes Jan 2020ASSEMBLY The Parks Conservancy Board held its regular meeting on Tuesday, January 21, 2020 at 5:30pm in Conference Room 119, 230 Government Center Drive, Wilmington, NC. Present: Mark Ihnat, (presiding), Alyson Fleming, Michelle Fogle, Jessica Gray, Cheryl Hannah, Lynn Kozik, Jim Orr and Spero Pekatos. Absent: Commissioner Jonathan Barfield, Amy McGlinn, Shane Mellin and Sarah Snyder. Staff: Tara Duckworth, Tanya Gurganious, Andy Johnson, Janine Powell and Jodi Rich. WELCOME AND APPROVAL OF MINUTES The meeting was called to order by Mark Ihnat who welcomed those in attendance. He then asked for a motion to approve the minutes of the November 19th meeting. MOTION: Cheryl Hannah, MOVED; SECONDED by Jim Orr, that the minutes of the November 19th meeting be approved. Upon vote, the MOTION CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY. 1. Treasurer’s Report. Spero provided an update of the financials as of December 31st. Total net income was $2,368; gross profit was $2,629 and total assets were $56,291. 2. Director’s Report. Tara asked if everyone received the monthly newsletter. She shared that other than what was in the newsletter, she had nothing further to add. 3. Food Truck Rodeo Update. There was some discussion regarding the upcoming Food Truck Rodeo which will be held at Hugh MacRae Park on April 19th. There are three vendors who did not send in additional money over their deposit from the last rodeo. A map will be shared so that the public can see where their favorite truck is located. 4. Election of Officers. Mark Ihnat shared that since Justin Gibson, who served as president, resigned from the board, a new board president was needed. He asked if anyone was interested in taking on that role. Jessica Gray said she would be willing to serve as president. He then asked if anyone was interested in becoming board secretary, adding that this position has remained vacant for some time. Michelle Fogle said she would be willing to take the position. Mark then presented the following motion: MOTION: Mark Ihnat MOVED; SECONDED by Cheryl Hannah, that Jessica Gray serve as president and Michelle Fogle as secretary of the Parks Conservancy Board. Upon vote, the MOTION CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY. 5. Other Business/New Business. Mark welcome the newest board member, Lynn Kozik. Alyson Fleming shared that our Parks Conservancy Instagram followers have increased to just over 100. The board then discussed possible ways to generate revenue. It was felt that a quarterly event held at area restaurants, like what was done at Blaze Pizza, is a great idea. In addition to Blaze Pizza, other restaurants suggested were Panda Express, Boombalattis and Your Pie. Michelle Fogle shared info on a fundraiser called a shoe exchange. Running and/or tennis shoes are collected. Depending on how many shoes are collected, we can generate at least $250. 6. Next Meeting Date. The next regularly scheduled meeting will be held on Tuesday, February 18th. ADJOURNMENT MOTION: Alyson Fleming MOVED; SECONDED by, Cheryl Hannah that the meeting be adjourned. Upon vote, the MOTION CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY. The meeting adjourned at 6:32pm.
