HomeMy WebLinkAboutPksConservBoard Minutes Nov 2019 ASSEMBLY The Parks Conservancy Board held its regular meeting on Tuesday, November 19, 2019 at 5:30pm in Conference Room 119, 230 Government Center Drive, Wilmington, NC. Present: Mark Ihnat, (presiding), Alyson Fleming, Jessica Gray, Cheryl Hannah, Amy McGlinn, Shane Mellin, Jim Orr and Spero Pekatos. Absent: Commissioner Jonathan Barfield, Michelle Fogle, Justin Gibson and Sarah Snyder. Staff: Tara Duckworth, Tanya Gurganious, Andy Johnson, Janine Powell and Jodi Rich. WELCOME AND APPROVAL OF MINUTES The meeting was called to order by Mark Ihnat who welcomed those in attendance. Since there were two new board members in attendance, introductions were made. Mark then asked for a motion to approve the minutes of the September meeting. MOTION: Amy McGlinn, MOVED; SECONDED by Alyson Fleming, that the minutes of the September 17th meeting be approved. Upon vote, the MOTION CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY. 1. Treasurer’s Report. Spero provided an update of the financials as of October 31st. Total net income for the month was $643.78. Total assets were $53,922.91. Mark added that $100.45 was received from the Blaze Pizza event. He suggested we keep them in rotation and consider doing this again. 2. Director’s Report. Tara passed out copies of the most recent newsletter. She then provided an overview of the Parks Department for the benefit of the new board members. She highlighted projects and new initiatives that are underway or will be embarked upon in the coming months. Tara then asked for the board’s approval to use some of the money in the Tree Beautification Fund to purchase red cedars, long leaf pines and magnolia trees which will be planted at Northern Regional Park. The following motion was presented: MOTION: Cheryl Hannah MOVED; SECONDED by Amy McGlinn that $3,320 from the Tree Beautification Fund be used to purchase trees to be planted at Northern Regional Park. MOTION CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY. 3. Food Truck Rodeo Update. There was some discussion regarding the recent Food Truck Rodeo. The discussion included being more selective with who we allow to participate going forward. A handout was provided which showed how much each vendor turned in. T-shirts sold well this time with a total of $105 in sales. The total amount raised was $4,809.75. (There are three vendors who still need to turn in their money.) 4. Other Business/New Business. Alyson Fleming shared that our Parks Conservancy Instagram followers have increased from 16 to 66. 5. Next Meeting Date. The next regularly scheduled meeting will be held on Tuesday, December 17th. ADJOURNMENT MOTION: Spero Pekatos MOVED; SECONDED by, Alyson Fleming that the meeting be adjourned. Upon vote, the MOTION CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY. The meeting adjourned at 6:32pm.
