HomeMy WebLinkAboutParks Conservancy Minutes 2_15_2021ASSEMBLY The Parks Conservancy Board held its regular meeting on Tuesday, February 15, 2022, 5:30pm at the Airlie Cottage. Present: Dave Ellegood, Jessica Gray, Cheryl Hannah, Karl Hess, Jim Orr, Tess Osmer, Tony Pagrabs, Spero Pekatos and Philip White. Via Teams: Commissioner Jonathan Barfield, Mark Ihnat Absent: Gabriella De Souza. Staff: Tara Duckworth, Tanya Gurganious, Andy Johnson, Janine Powell, and Jodi Rich. WELCOME AND APPROVAL OF MINUTES Jessica Gray called the meeting to order and asked for a motion to approve the minutes of the October meeting. The following motion was presented: 1. Staff Report. Jodi Rich shared information regarding the play structure which will be installed at Hanover Pines Park. We are still hiring staff and currently have a trades technician, trades supervisor as well as grounds maintenance worker positions. 2. Treasurer’s Report. Spero reviewed the financial information. Total assets were $62,930. Only expenses were for a memorial bench in Long Leaf Park near the pond. Food Truck Rodeo. Cheryl Hannah reported that there are currently 14 trucks signed up for the next rodeo event which will take place on Sunday, April 24th at Ogden Park. She will send out information for board members to sign up to volunteer at the event. Thought about having art activities at the rodeo as well as possible bike events in the future. Jodi also talked about Food Truck Rodeo funding possibly going to art in the park. She then shared information regarding different art ideas to be done in the park with chalk. Janine will reach out to Ronda Bellamy of the Arts Council to possible partner with us in this endeavor to find local artists. Old Business/New Business. Art in the Park – Tess Osmer shared her ideas for engaging the community in the parks through free art programs. Also, maybe paid art classes for a nominal fee of $10/person. FEMA Properties – Karl Hess shared his findings on FEMA properties. Bike Event in Parks - Dave Ellegood shared information regarding having a pop-up bike event in the park. Would like to tie it into an event already going on. (Possibly fall food truck rodeo.) There would be zero cost and it would be volunteer driven. Would teach ABC’s of basic bicycle safety. ADJOURNMENT There was no further business and Jessica asked for a motion to adjourn the meeting. MOTION: Karl Hess MOVED; SECONDED by Dave Ellegood, that the meeting be adjourned.
