RE: Pandion Drive Trip Generation Memorandum
Dear Mr. Wall,
Timmons Group is providing traffic engineering services for the proposed residential
development located off Pandion Drive in New Hanover County, NC. The proposed
development will consist of a 46-lot residential subdivision. Per area standards, a Traffic Impact
Analysis (TIA) is required when projected peak hour trips exceed 100 vehicles per hour (VPH).
The site-generated trips shown in Table 1 are based on trip generation information provided in
the 11th Edition of the Institute of Transportation Engineers’ (ITE’s) Trip Generation Manual and
the anticipated development size. The trip generation was calculated using the proposed
number of residential units as the independent variable and the provided regression equation.
Table 1: Trip Generation Summary
ITE Land Use Code Independent
Variable ADT AM Peak Hour PM Peak Hour
In Out Total In Out Total
210-Single-Family
Detached Housing 46 Units 494 9 28 37 30 18 48
SOURCE: Institute of Transportation Engineers’ Trip Generation Manual 11th Edition (2021)
Per Table 1, AM peak hour trips totaled 37 (9 incoming and 28 outgoing) where PM peak hour
trips totaled 48 (30 incoming and 18 outgoing). Average daily traffic (ADT) volumes generated
by the development totaled 494 vehicles per day. No trip reductions were included due to
internal capture or pass-by trips.
As shown, projected trips do not meet the established peak hour trip threshold (100 VPD).
Therefore, no TIA is required due to the development’s construction.
Should you have any questions regarding this memorandum, do not hesitate to contact me.
