LEPC Members present introduced themselves. Review and Approval of July 9, 2025, LEPC Meeting Minutes The minutes of the July 9, 2025 meeting were provided. Jason Fuller moved the minutes be approved with one change; David Stone seconded. The minutes were approved by unanimous consent. Moment of Silence for September 11th Observed to commemorate the sacrifice of all affected by the events of 9-11-2001. Discussion Topics “Why Me” LEPC Spotlight – Looking Glass Technologies (Brooke Lotz) is a developer of a simulated exercise training platform bringing together computer, software, and TV News for emergency management training. All exercise scales are available. Looking Glass combines simulated social and media products with injects to have players interact in real-time. Intuitive and realistic, the scenarios are fully customizable. Lead time depends on the exercise size and number of components wanted. LEPC Nominations / Elections - LEPC Chair, Vice-Chair, and Secretary positions will be voted on at the November meeting. Nominations for the positions should be sent to LEPC email. Details will be provided at November meeting. Lithium Ion Battery Training – Training is being offered October 1-3. Classroom training is in the morning with hands-on training in the afternoon. Classroom training is at the NHC EOC. Hands-on training is being hosted by Pender County Fire/EMS in Rocky Point. Subcommittee Reports 1. Executive Committee (Stan Harts) – Elections are coming up in November. Nominations are welcome. Planning on review of the county Hazmat plan. 2. Emergency Planning/Response (Rhonda Olson) – We are looking for a venue, etc. and ways to deliver a conference as economically as possible. If you are interested in helping with conference planning, please let Rhonda Olson know. Conference time frame likely to push back until sometime during 1st quarter. 3. Community Education/Public Awareness – No report. Member Announcements • Coast Guard – Reviewing a request to increase amount of explosives loaded at the State Port. There will be an airshow over Wrightsville Beach airport being organized by ILM on October 2nd. Several exercises are being planned throughout the state. • GE Vernova Hitachi – Will have an exercise on October 29th involving transportation of a radiologically contaminated patient. • Trillium – Planning a post-disaster simulation exercise examining how to recover from hurricane damages, receive medical/therapy care, etc., to happen on October 2nd in Brunswick County. • NHC EM – There have been several changes to the department. Do not hesitate to reach out as needed to get information. • Red Cross – Regarding fire/EM support, make sure to notify them early as they are not a fast response team. Red Cross is always looking for volunteers in multiple areas of support. The next LEPC meeting is scheduled for 11:00 AM on November 12, 2025, in the NHC EOC.
