A TIA for the Holly Shelter Industrial Park development located between 5700 and 6208 Holly
Shelter Road in Castle Hayne, NC, was sealed on October 8, 2024. This document was submitted
to NCDOT, and comments were provided on October 16, 2024. One item was in need of
clarification for consistency.
The figures and text of the TIA report recommend a storage length of 100 feet for the westbound
left turn into the site at Site Access 1. However, the 2041 Full Build with Improvements Synchro
model erroneously reflected 125 feet. With an anticipated queue of only 105 feet during a single
peak hour and only shown in SimTraffic and not in Synchro, it is expected that the taper will be
sufficient to contain the extra five feet outside the recommended 100-foot turn lane from Phase
2. This statement was also made on page 43 of the report. No additional lengthening of the turn
lane is recommended for Phase 3 or Full Build.
The two affected Synchro files have been updated to reflect a 100-foot left turn lane:

The recommendations remain the same as shown in the submitted TIA.
