Chairman Barbour led introductions. 7/9/25 meeting minutes approved (motion by Chairman Barbour, seconded by Mayor Mills) Feb 27 Carolina Beach Inlet Maintenance Dredging •Merritt worked from June 17th to July 9th •Moved 39,745cy per Captain’s Logs •USCG hoping to relocate buoys by end of the month •USACE aiming for late September/early October Merritt event USACE Survey 7/31, 8/5-8/6 Notes/Discussion: One of the longer Merritt events on the east coast since October 2024. USCG Oak Island Aid to Navigation Team has a vessel in the shipyard being retrofitted to be able to relocate the heavier #1 and #2 buoys as needed in the future. Dredge Murden is still expected to be back in service this fall but is scheduled out until the end of the year. Discussion around how a hopper dredge would lose effectiveness until the dredge material management site within the inlet is emptied anyway. Feb 27 6/9 Pre Dredge Survey 7/31, 8/5-8/6 Current Survey Notes/Discussion: Discussion around the inlet borrow area for CSRM projects effects the inlet and how management of the inlet benefits from an empty inlet borrow area. •Town of Kure Beach upgrading outfalls •Met with Town and USACE to sync up •Schedule will be passed along once available Carolina Beach and Kure Beach FY26 Coastal Storm Risk Management (CSRM) Looking N from Golden Sands in CB Looking S from the southern end of CB’s rock revetment Notes/Discussion: Meeting with Town of Kure Beach shows the positive federal/local partnership involved to make sure these CSRM projects run smoothly. Jay Healy asked if the USACE would be willing to host a community meeting prior to the project start, like they have done previously. The USACE indicated in the meeting with the Town of Kure Beach that they are willing to have a community meeting and provide the project progress tracker like past projects. Mason Inlet Relocation Project (MIRP) •GBA has finalized the 2025 MIRP Physical Monitoring Report •File copies provided to Town of Wrightsville Beach, Figure Eight HOA, and Shell Island Resort •Recommendation for 2026/2027 Mason Inlet Relocation Maintenance Event •333,340cy within template (256,485cy landward of COLREGS) •MHW has not crossed opposite corridor limit, but channel clearly bends to the south •Davey Resource Group has removed Waterbird Management Area stakes since nesting easting has ended. They continue their monitoring efforts GBA MIRP 2025 Report Notes/Discussion: Mason Creek AIWW Crossing •Included as bid option in USACE FY26 AIWW Maintenance Contract •Posted on 7/24 with a bid opening scheduled for 8/22 •CAMA Minor Modification request submitted USACE Bid Plan Notes/Discussion: Carolina Beach AIWW Crossing •Included the USACE FY26 AIWW Maintenance Contract USACE Bid Plan Notes/Discussion: Next Meeting: September 10th Public Comment: Chairman Barbour adjourned the meeting.
