Notes/Discussion: 2.12.25 meeting minutes approved. Eve Phillips introduced as a new appointee in Commerce and Finance
category. PWBC letter in support of updating the 2016 Beach & Inlet Management Plan (BIMP) finalized. A signed copy will be
attached to the summary email.
Mason Inlet Relocation Project (MIRP)
Taken from USACE provided AIWW survey dated 2/13/25
•USACE notified New Hanover County (NHC) on 2/20/25 of shoaling within Mason Creek AIWW crossing
•Per federal permit conditions associated MIRP, NHC required to maintenance dredge
•NHC currently assessing and exploring potential options

Carolina Beach Inlet Maintenance Dredging
•USACE planning for large April event once Merritt is back in service
•CB Inlet AIWW crossing to be included in upcoming winter USACE AIWW contract
2/4/25 Condition Survey (survey dates 1/27-28 and 2/4)
Notes/Discussion: There has not been a new USACE Condition Survey since the Feb. PWBC meeting. Will provide an
updated dredging timeline once received.
•Solicitation was readvertised on March 10th
•Bid opening targeted for April 9th
Carolina Beach and Kure Beach FY26 Coastal Storm Risk Management (CSRM)
Notes/Discussion: Thanks to USACE for their effort to re-advertise this early in the year.

Next Meeting: April 9th
Public Comment: Natalie English informed meeting of the proposed North Carolina Senate Bill SB220, Section 4 (specifically
the new Section 14-280.4) which states “Any person who willfully launches any motorized or unmotorized watercraft from the
right-of-way of a public highway of street into a body of water adjacent to the right-of-way, except in public areas designated for
boating access, is guilty of a Class 3 misdemeanor.” Brief discussion about potential impacts to New Hanover County. Natalie
will try to gather more information.
