Notes/Discussion: Survey available at https://www.saw.usace.army.mil/Missions/Navigation/Hydrographic-
Surveys/Inlets-Crossings/. It is imperative to navigate using GPS waypoints on survey and not by buoys.
•USACE Wilmington District (SAW) industry day was held on 2/4/25
•11 contractors in attendance
•SAW goal is to advertise project by end of March 2025

•NCBIWA goal to have General Assembly fund an update to BIMP
•Asking members to pass a resolution of support
•“BIMP is intended to serve as a resource, common reference, and starting
point for beach/inlet projects and strategy discussions among stakeholders.”
•BIMP History
•2000 –Session law required NCDEQ to develop state beach management and
restoration strategy
•Bill declared it is a necessary governmental responsibility to properly manage and protect
North Carolina’s beaches from erosion•2005 –NC Coastal Habitat Protection Plan (CHPP) recommended a BIMP
•2007 –funding from the General Assembly
•2009 –BIMP completed
•2015 –House bill authorized update to BIMP
•2016 –Updated BIMP report completed
•Incorporated beach nourishment and dredging activities completed since initial BIMP
NCBWIA Beach and Inlet Management Plan (BIMP) Resolu tion
Notes/Discussion: Motion passed for the PWBC to send a signed letter in support of NCBWIA’s goal of having the
General Assembly fund an update to BIMP and the importance of the BIMP to stakeholders. Natalie English raised
question to inquire with NCBWIA if they have an initial feeling on the General Assembly’s stance on funding an update
to the BIMP. Updates will be provided in upcoming meetings.

Notes/Discussion: Slide presented as an example of useful information provided in BIMP and importance of up-to -date
information. Sue Bulluck stressed the importance of using current, localized data when determining property values if the BIMP
