RESOLUTION RECOGNIZING THE STAMP DEFIANCE CHAPTER OF THE NATIONAL SOCIETY DAUGHTERS
OF THE AMERUCAN REVOLUTION FOR AMERUCA 2SO ACTIVITIES IN NEW HANOVER COUNTY
WHEREAS, on July 4, 2026, our nation will commemorate the Senniquincentennia| anniversary of the
signing of the Declaration of Independence;and
WHEREAS, the journey toward this historic milestone is an opportunity to reflect on our nation's past,
honor the contributions of all Americans,and look ahead to the future generations who will carry forward
the ideals of democracy and individual liberty that make the United States a unique nation in the world
community; and
WHEREAS,North Carolina's Provincial Congress adopted the Halifax Resolves on April 12, 1776, becoming
the first formal call for independence from Great Britain among the American colonies during the
American Revolution; and
WHEREAS, North Carolina ratified the United States Constitution on Novennber21, 1789, becoming the
twelfth state in the Union; and
WHEREAS,the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution is a non-political women's service
organization founded in 1890, whose members are lineal descendants of Patriots of the American
Revolution;and
WHEREAS,the Stamp Defiance Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution will
install and dedicate an America 250 Historical Patriot Marker at USS North Carolina Battleship Park on
March 20, 2026, honoring America's Forgotten Patriots of the Revolutionary War;and
WHEREAS,through the President General's leadership, members of the National Society Daughters of the
American Revolution are participating in America 250 activities that recognize and commemorate the
history of the American Revolution through local projects and community engagement, including efforts
undertaken by the Stamp Defiance Chapter; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the New Hanover County Board of Commissioners hereby
recognizes and commends the Stamp Defiance Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American
Revolution for its commitment to preserving Revolutionary War history and for its contributions to the
America 25U commemoration in New Hanover County.

Local Governmental Resolution
WHEREAS,the New Hanover County Sheriffs Office(herein called the"Agency")has completed an application
(The Applicant Agency)
contract for traffic safety funding;and that New Hanover County Board of Commissioners(herein called the
(The Governing Body of the Agency)
"Governing Body")has thoroughly considered the problem identified and has reviewed the project as described in the contract;
THEREFORE,NOW BE IT RESOLVED BY THE New Hanover County Board of Commissioners IN OPEN
(Governing Body)
MEETING ASSEMBLED IN THE CITY OF Wilmington,NORTH CAROLINA,THIS 16th DAY OF March 2026 AS
FOLLOWS:
I. That the project referenced above is in the best interest of the Governing Body and the general public;and
2. That New Hanover County Sheriff s Office is authorized to file,on behalf of the Governing Body,an
application contract in the form prescribed by the Governor's Highway Safety Program for federal funding in the amount of
$127,800 to be made to the Governing Body to assist in defraying the cost of the project described in the contract application;
and
3. That the Governing Body has formally appropriated the cash contribution of$ 0.00 as
required by the project contract;and
4. That the Project Director designated in the application contract shall furnish or make arrangement for other appropriate
persons to furnish such information,data,documents and reports as required by the contract,if approved,or as may be
required by the Governor's Highway Safety Program;and
5. That certified copies of this resolution by included as part of the contract referenced above;and
6. That this resolution shall take effect immediately VpOA its adoption.

BA26-031—Reinvestment Partners for the VITA(Volunteer Income Tax Assistance)is a recurring grant awarded each year to
the Senior Resource Center and was included in the FY26 budget.The Senior Resource Center has been notified that the award
amount has increased by$4,150.In-kind support and the SRC's allocated annual budget will be used to satisfy the
matching-fund requirement.Grant funds will be used to support the VITA program,enabling approximately 2,500 residents to
receive free tax-return preparation by certified volunteer tax preparers.
