HomeMy WebLinkAbout2026-03-16 RM Exhibits Bdilbft W��H�O�R�UN�B�RD OF COMMISSIONERS �����' ==—�- RESOLUTION RECOGNIZING THE STAMP DEFIANCE CHAPTER OF THE NATIONAL SOCIETY DAUGHTERS OF THE AMERUCAN REVOLUTION FOR AMERUCA 2SO ACTIVITIES IN NEW HANOVER COUNTY WHEREAS, on July 4, 2026, our nation will commemorate the Senniquincentennia| anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence;and WHEREAS, the journey toward this historic milestone is an opportunity to reflect on our nation's past, honor the contributions of all Americans,and look ahead to the future generations who will carry forward the ideals of democracy and individual liberty that make the United States a unique nation in the world community; and WHEREAS,North Carolina's Provincial Congress adopted the Halifax Resolves on April 12, 1776, becoming the first formal call for independence from Great Britain among the American colonies during the American Revolution; and WHEREAS, North Carolina ratified the United States Constitution on Novennber21, 1789, becoming the twelfth state in the Union; and WHEREAS,the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution is a non-political women's service organization founded in 1890, whose members are lineal descendants of Patriots of the American Revolution;and WHEREAS,the Stamp Defiance Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution will install and dedicate an America 250 Historical Patriot Marker at USS North Carolina Battleship Park on March 20, 2026, honoring America's Forgotten Patriots of the Revolutionary War;and WHEREAS,through the President General's leadership, members of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution are participating in America 250 activities that recognize and commemorate the history of the American Revolution through local projects and community engagement, including efforts undertaken by the Stamp Defiance Chapter; and NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the New Hanover County Board of Commissioners hereby recognizes and commends the Stamp Defiance Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution for its commitment to preserving Revolutionary War history and for its contributions to the America 25U commemoration in New Hanover County. Go NEW H OU TY LeAnn Pierce, Chair VIA nW�rlei- x Resolution Exhlbk Book- VIL POP-L-9 North Carolina Governor's Highway Safety Program Local Governmental Resolution WHEREAS,the New Hanover County Sheriffs Office(herein called the"Agency")has completed an application (The Applicant Agency) contract for traffic safety funding;and that New Hanover County Board of Commissioners(herein called the (The Governing Body of the Agency) "Governing Body")has thoroughly considered the problem identified and has reviewed the project as described in the contract; THEREFORE,NOW BE IT RESOLVED BY THE New Hanover County Board of Commissioners IN OPEN (Governing Body) MEETING ASSEMBLED IN THE CITY OF Wilmington,NORTH CAROLINA,THIS 16th DAY OF March 2026 AS FOLLOWS: I. That the project referenced above is in the best interest of the Governing Body and the general public;and 2. That New Hanover County Sheriff s Office is authorized to file,on behalf of the Governing Body,an application contract in the form prescribed by the Governor's Highway Safety Program for federal funding in the amount of $127,800 to be made to the Governing Body to assist in defraying the cost of the project described in the contract application; and 3. That the Governing Body has formally appropriated the cash contribution of$ 0.00 as required by the project contract;and 4. That the Project Director designated in the application contract shall furnish or make arrangement for other appropriate persons to furnish such information,data,documents and reports as required by the contract,if approved,or as may be required by the Governor's Highway Safety Program;and 5.
