ASSEMBLY
The 2010 New Hanover County Board of Equalization and Review met on Tuesday, April
13, 2010, at 1:00 p.m. in the Lucie F. Harrell Conference Room of the New Hanover County
Government Center, 230 Government Center Drive, Wilmington, North Carolina. The
purpose of the meeting was to open the 2010 Board of Equalization and Review, in
accordance with North Carolina General Statute 105- 3229(E).
Members present were: Chairman Joseph Szaloky, William J. O'Shea, Gregory
Anderson, Donald Harris, Nancy H. Pritchett (Alternate), and Deb Quaranta Hays
(Alternate). Rebecca Terretti resigned before the meeting.
Staff members present were: Tax Administrator Roger Kelley, Assistant Tax
Administrator Jeff Niebauer, Administrative Support Technician Joann Davenport,
Appraisal Clerk Michele Brooks, and Notary Lisa James.
Also present was: North Carolina Department of Revenue's Property Tax Division staff
member Real Property Valuation Specialist Michael Brown.
Chairman Joseph Szaloky called the meeting to order.
Agenda
- Introductions were made by each of the Board members and staff present.
- Chairman Szaloky, and members Anderson, Harris, O'Shea, Hays, and Pritchett
were sworn in for Oath of Office by Lisa James.
- North Carolina Department of Revenue's Property Tax Division Director Brown
discussed the North Carolina Departmept of Revenue "Member's Handbook for
Boards of Equalization and Review."
- Tax Administrator Roger Kelley discussed with the Board about meetings,
schedules, and appeals. The Board agreed to group time meetings for appeals.
- The Board agreed the next meeting will be on May 4, 2010, from 1 -4p.m. and
appeals filed by property owners will be heard.
- Oaths of Office are on file in the office of the Clerk to the Board of Commissioners.
ADJOURNMENT
There being no further business, Chairman Szaloky recessed the 2010 Board of
Equalization and Review at 2:45 p.m.
