Members present: Charles Harrell, Dale Sutton & James Shivar Reviewed the December 2010 exam report Reviewed and approved December passing test applicants (Marko Bracey & Patrick Buschle-Approved
for card issuance) James Shivar updated the Board members on the annual New Hanover County Board of Examiners of Electricians report which was given at the commissioner’s meeting on
1/18/11 The Board members discussed and were given a copy of the “Code of Ethics” adopted by the County commissioners for all County boards and committees to respect and abide by in
the performance of their duties. Continuing education is still being discussed as a possible requirement for existing journeyman electricians The Board members were given a copy of Chapter
11, Article IV – “Electrical Code” of the New Hanover County Code. This Board will help staff review, revise and update our county ordinance pertaining to electrical work and electricians.
The Board supports the idea of the journeyman exam being incorporated in with the 4 year apprenticeship program and administering the exam at the school at the conclusion of the program.
The Board decided to maintain the existing number of typically required journeyman card holders present on commercial jobs. (At least one present on each commercial job site) The Board
discussed the possibility of having a photo ID being required on our journeyman cards. We will research software options, possible available resources and the potential cost involved.
