The minutes from the April 1,2009 meeting were read and approved.
Patti Sacchetti lead a training review of visitation protocol developed by Sharon Wilder,State of North
Carolina Long Term Care Ombudsman.The training covered the role of the Community Advisory Committee
(CAC)while visiting long-term care facilities and the appropriate methods for successfully completing the
Community Advisory Committee Quarterly/Annual Visitation Report Committee members were reminded to
ask the following questions while conducting a site visit...(1)what do you see?(2)what do you hear?(3)
what do you smell?(4)how does the facility feel?and(5)what is the"flavor"of the facility?
Other training topics included a discussion of cultural changes in long-term care,changes in veteran benefits
for long-term care,a geriatric bruising study and the issuance of federal stimulus checks to long-term care
residents.
Quarterly visit reports were reported by committee members.
Committee visitation sub-groups have scheduled the following dates for their third quarter site visits:
Tom Jennings:mid July
Mary Busbee:August 4
Loraine McEvoy:August 11.and 18
