Adult Care 2011-04-06 Adult Care Home Advisory Committee Minutes
April 6,2011
The New Hanover County Adult Care Home Advisory Committee met on April 6,2011. The following
members were present: Martha Stein,Chair,Mary Busbee, Sharon LuQuire,Tom Jennings,Janet
Locklear, Sandra Oglesby,Woody Sutton,and Karen Vincent. Also present were Audrey Marshall,Jane
Jones,Patty,Rhonda Lloyd(DSS)and Regina Anderson(DSS). Absent were Jackie Dae,Oliver
Schreiber,and Lorraine McEvoy. Jackie Dae has been very ill. Audrey informed us that three new
members have been appointed but have not had their training yet.
Woody Sutton moved that the minutes of the last meeting be approved. Seconded by Mary Busbee,the
motion carried.
Audrey Marshall introduced the Assistant County Attorney, Sharon Huffinan,who discussed the nature of
our work on the Advisory Committee. She informed us that even though we are volunteers,that should be
we sued,we would be covered under the county's liability insurance. She further stated that should we be
injured while performing our duties we would be covered by the insurance. There was some question as to
whether we were covered while in route from home to our first facility and from the time of our last visit
until we arrived back home. She was to check on that.
The committee gave their reports on the facility visits. Discussion followed on the fact that these reports
are public record and because of that we have to be very careful in writing them up that we do not identify
any residents.
Members were reminded of the luncheon to be held next week.
The next meeting is scheduled for the week of July 4. Audrey will check to see if there is a conflict with
moving in to the following week. There being no further business,the meeting was adjourned.
