Risk Mgmt Advisory Committee Notes 12-15-10 (2) MEETING MINUTES: New Hanover County Attorney’s Office – Risk Management BUSINESS: Review and discuss the renewals for City of Wilmington, Cape Fear Community College, Cape Fear Public Utility Authority, New Hanover County, New Hanover County Airport, and Southeastern Center for Mental Health/Developmental Disabilities/Substance Abuse Services. Review and discuss actual renewal figures for New Hanover County. TIME AND PLACE: December 15, 2010, 9:00 a.m. Wilmington Police Department Blue Room 615 Bess Street Wilmington, NC ATTENDANCE: Committee members and staff in attendance: Richard Beebee Walker Taylor, IV Deborah Watts Ron Woodruff Tiffany Allen – Risk Manager Jennifer Stancil – Risk Management Specialist Robin Keeler – Risk Management Technician Guest in Attendance: George Chadwick III Cristal Jenkins, City of Wilmington Carolyn Johnson, City of Wilmington Attorney Bob Skaggs, City of Wilmington Safety Officer ORDER OF BUSINESS: 1.Introductions of members and guests in attendance 2.Presentation of Risk Management Services offered by New Hanover County 3.Discussion of the City of Wilmington’s insurance policies that renewed on 10/1/2010 st a.City policies will be moved to a July 1 renewal date as per City’s request b.Urged City to have property appraisals done in FY12 c.Risk Management is working with City to update contract process as it relates to insurance 4.Minutes Review / Approved 5.Reviewed Cape Fear Community College’s renewals 1.Fire/Emergency responders programs are being reviewed by Utica and Risk Management 2.Risk Management is working with the College to update their contracts for leasing school property to outside vendors that provide entertainment 6.Discussed Cape Fear Public Utility Authority upcoming renewals that will be marketed for 7/1/2011 7.Discussed upcoming New Hanover County renewals and possible changes to WASTEC policy due to R3’s contract with NHC to manage environmental management operations. 8.Discussed upcoming renewals for the New Hanover County Airport Authority 1.Future policies will include the new VA building once constructed. 2.Risk Management plans to work with the Airport to offer training in an effort to reduce worker’s compensation losses. 3.Risk Management will be working on the Air Meet policy for the upcoming air show. 9.Discussed New Hanover County Board of Education renewals 1.Risk Management continues to work with the Board to reduce worker’s compensation costs 10.Reviewed Southeastern Center for Mental Health, Developmental Disabilities & Substance Abuse Services upcoming renewals.
