Minutes Review/Approved
Reviewed the list of upcoming insurance renewals
for the above entities.
New Hanover County Airport Authority Update:
The Airport Authority will renew their insurance policy with NCACC Liability and Property Pool Fund as quoted.
The Airport elected to non-renew their Ocean Marine Pollution Liability
coverage, as their vessel only holds 6-gallons of fuel.
Worker’s Compensation Quote Update: An alternate quote through Wausau Business Insurance was obtained since the NCACC quote came
in higher than expected. The new quote renders savings of $6,900 (exclusive of additional annual savings based on experience). Coverage with NCACC will be non-renewed and placed with
Wausau.
Cape Fear Public Transportation Authority DBA WAVE Transit:
Risk Manager Allen reported WAVE Transit will begin receiving services from the Risk Management Department effective
7/1/2011.
The Committee reviewed the renewal quotes for WAVE Transit from NCACC (Commercial Package Policy) and from Key Risk (Workers’ Compensation).
Cape Fear Public Utility Authority
Randy Reeves of Harold W. Wells & Son Insurance presented two quote options with the aid of representatives of the two quoting insurance companies.
Dan Stimax and Richard Baker of Travelers
Insurance were present to answer questions about the renewal quote from Travelers.
Gene Mammone of Glatfelter Public Practice was present to answer questions about the new quote from
Glatfelter.
The main focus of the presentations and question/answer session was the differences in coverage and claims service. The major difference between the two options was the
property insurance. The Glatfelter quote provided a lower cost for windstorm claims, but also a lower limit. The Committee recommended obtaining a revised quote from Glatfelter to
match the property limits of the Travelers quote before making a decision.
Risk Manager Allen presented the Third Party Administrator quotes. The cost of the quote through PMA was selected
due to the cost savings and service provided by PMA.
