Adjourn NEW HANOVER COUNTY PARKS ADVISORY BOARD PAGE 1 REGULAR MEETING JANUARY 3, 2018 ASSEMBLY The Parks Advisory Board held its regular meeting on Wednesday, January 3, 2017 at 8:00am in Conference Room 119, 230 Government Center Drive, Wilmington NC. Present: Bruce Shell, , Rebecca Powell, Linda Reece, Shawn Spencer and Nikki Zeldin. Absent: Colin Hackman. Staff: Tara Duckworth, Tanya Gurganious and Andy Johnson. Guest. Steve Morrissey, Cape Fear Pickle Ball Club; group asking that the board consider making a park at Battle Park. WELCOME AND APPROVAL OF MINUTES The meeting was called to order by Bruce Shell who welcomed everyone and asked if there were any corrections to the minute. There were none noted and the following motion was presented: MOTION:MOVED; SECONDED Shawn Spencer by , that the minutes of the th MOTION CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY December 6 meeting be approved. Upon vote, the . Battle Park. 1. There were 4 guests who asked if they could address the board regarding Battle Park. They asked the board to consider possibly developing the Battle Park location into a park. They have gone door to door in the surrounding neighborhood asking neighbors if they are in favor of a park. According to them, most are and they have garnered the signatures of 600 people who are in support of a park. It does appeal to the board to have it made into a passive park. Director/Park Operations Report. 2. Tara Duckworth reviewed proposed operational budget. She shared with the board requests made for improvements at Kings Grant and River Road Parks. Additionally, staff is hoping to have the tennis courts resurfaced at Veterans Park. Mower and gator replacements will also occur based on years of use for said items. Capital improvements include a walking trail for Northern Regional Park, pickle ball courts as well as field drainage improvements. Ogden Park will also see drainage improvements FY 19-20 budget will see Market Street medians, multi-use trails and sidewalks added which will provide more connectivity Other Business. 3.
