The New Hanover County Board of Health met on Wednesday, January
2, 1985 at the New Hanover County Health Department.

Mrs. Credle, Chairman, called the meeting to order at 8:00 A. M.
and the Board Members went to the aUditorium to view a film on
Animal Control. Ron Currie, Animal Control Director, and George
Houck, Animal Control Supervisor, presented a film as the
Department Focal for the month of January. This film is being
used for educational purposes in the schools, at civic clubs or to
any group requesting it. After the film, the Board returned to
the Board Room to continue the meeting.

Mrs. Credle called for corrections to the December 5, 1984
minutes. Mr. Grathwol moved the minutes be approved as presented.
Mr. Whaley seconded the motion and it carried unanimously.
Oath of Office - Dr. Roseman: Oath of Office was administered to
Dr. Irvin Roseman, Dental member on the Board, by Mabel Price,
Notary of Public.
Capital Improvements Committee Report: Dr. Wilson, Chairman of
the Capital Improvements Committee, presented for discussion
several options for adding on to the present structure. (a copy
of these options are attached as a part of these minutes) A new
option was added during the discussion. After much discussion,
two of the options were chosen for presentation to the
Commissioners. (a copy of these two options are attached as a
part of these minutes) The committee recommended that the Board
request money from the Commissioners to cover planning cost for
the addition.

Dr. Wilson moved that the Board request Planning Funds from the
County Commissioners, to construct A, B, C, 0, E, and H, to shell
in the second level, to include A and H, and the existing
building, C, 0, and E, that it might later be extended vertically
and to ask the architect to plan for finishing 2500 square feet on
the second level and that a maximum of $8,000 be requested to hire
an architect to draw up plans for the expansion. Mr. Grathwol
seconded the motion and it carried unanimously.

Comments:
Mr. Durham thanked the department for the nice Christmas Party and
for inviting the Board to it.
Mr. Parker told the Board that $1,750 has been received from the
Jobs Bill Program to cover Delivery Fees for indigent patients.
