08/06/1986 BOH Minutes - G7 The New Hanover County Board of Health met on Wednesday, August 6, 1986, at the New Hanover County Health Department. Members Present: Jean Credle, Chairman Donald Blake Carl Durham Julius Howard Peter Pappas, M.D. Harley Phillips, D.V.M. Sheram Robinson Irvin Roseman, D.D.S. Arnold Sobol, O.D. Jim Strickland Members Absent: Nolan 0' Neal others Present: Robert S. Parker, Secretary to the Board Mabel price, Recording Secretary Oath of Office Mrs. Credle introduced two new Board and Sheram A. Robinson. Mabel price, the Oath of Office to the new members. Bobby Waters presented information Mosquito, a carrier of Dengue fever. has migrated from Asia and has been State as Tennessee. on the Ades Albopictus The Ades Albopictus mosquito identified as close to our Budget Committee Report: Mr. Blake reported that the Sanitarians salary grade has now been upgraded to Grade 68. This grade had been requested in the fiscal year 1986-87 budget but had been approved at Grade 67. After reconsidering the request, the Commissioners have approved Grade 68. Ca ital Improvements Committee Re ort: Mr. Durham reported that Mr. Parker and the D1rectors 0 Mental Health and New Hanover Memorial Hospital had met concerning land use of the Hospital, Mental Health and pUblic Health campus. He reported that the hospital has plans for developing most of the land. Designated voter - N. C. Association of Boards Credle and Mr. Durham both plan to attend the N. Boards of Health meeting in September and the Credle to be their voting representative. of Health: Mrs. C. Assoc1ation of Board asked Mrs. .. . 58 New Staff: Mr. Parker introduced the following new staff members: - Ann Hadnot - Clerk, Home Health Delicia Roxbury, Animal Control Dispatcher Denise Ray, PH Nurse, Home Health Crystal Feenster, Shelter Attendant - Announcements meetl.ngs and Registration attend: of Meetings: told members Fees and make Mr. parker announced the following of the Board that we would send in room reservations for any who plan to Association of Boards of Health Meeting - september 16 N.C.P.H.A. Annual Meeting - september 17 - 19 End of year Report: Mr. parker presented each Board Member with a summary of fiscal year 1985-86 activities and statistics. Copies of this report were also given to County Officials and to the News Media. Continuing Education for Board of Health Members: A Representatl.ve from Area Health Educatl.on Center (AHEC) was present for the meeting to get input from the Board on the type of training the Board would like to have during the coming fiscal year and the most convenient time for these meetings. AS soon as planning is complete Board Members will be informed. - Final plans for Building Addition and Renovation: Kent Harmon, - Archl.tect tor Synthesl.S, presented the final plans for the building addition and renovation. There being no further business, Mr. Durham moved the meeting be adjourned.
