08/19/193715 POSTPONED REGULAR MONTHLY MEETING, BOARD OF HEALTH HELD IN OFFICE OF BOARD AUGUST 19, 1937 Present: Chairman Addison Hewlett, Mayor Thomas E. Cooper, Mr. H. M. Roland, Dr. J. C. Wessell, Dr. W. Houston Moore, and Dr. H. L. Keith. Minutes of last meeting were read and approved. The Health Officer presented the monthly reports. After a general discussion of the milk ordinance proposed at the July meeting, it was moved by Dr. Moore, seconded by Dr. Keith, that the ordinance be adopted to become effective on and after July 1, 1938 and that the state authorities be notified by letter that such action is taken in the interest of harmony and co-operation between the state and local health departments but with the understanding that if there is unreasonable interference or too exacting interpretations, the ordinance will be repealed. Carried. The Health Officer announced the resignation of Dr. G. R. Carpenter, Assistant Health Officer, which was accepted with regrets. The Health Officer was then authorized to appoint Dr. Carpenter's successor. The Health Officer explained to the Board that Mr. W. H. Hancammon, one of the sanitary inspectors, has become physically unable to do his field work. Upon recommendation of the Health Officer, it was moved by Dr. Moore, seconded by Mr. Cooper, that the Health Officer be authorized to employ someone to do the field work at $75.00 a month and Mr. Hancammon to receive $53.84 for the inside work. Such plan to become effective October 1. Motion carried. The Health Officer asked for and received approval of the Board for assigning the plumbing inspector to routine inspection of eating places, under Dr. Huffman's direction, whenever not engaged in the inspection of plumbing.
