03/09/1939 53 REGULAR MON'lHLY MEETING, BOARD OF REAL'lH REID IN OFFICE OF BOARD MARCH 9, 1939 " Present: Chainnen Addiaon Hewlett, Mr. H. M. Rolend, Dr. J. C. Wessell, end Dr. W. Houaton Moore. Minutes of last meeting ware read and approved. Tha monthly reports were presented by the Health Officer. It was moved by Dr. Wessell, seconded by Dr. Moore, that the Board of Health approved and gave its support to the cancar control program being led locally by Mrs. louis Goodmen. Carried. It was moved by Dr. Wessall, saconded by Dr. Moore, that the Health Officer be given a three or four weeks leave of absence (Dr. Wessell agreeing to look after the executive affairs in his absence). Carried. and carr ied, It was moved by Dr. Wessell, seconded by Dr. Moore,/that the following ordinance covering septic tanks and tile fields be adopted: Any person, firm or cOrporation, before installing a septic tank must obtain permit from the Board of Health. The capacity shall ba not less than 500 gallons and the tile not lass then 100 feet. In case of hotela, boarding houses, etc., tha capecity of the tank and the amount of tile shall be determined by the Health Officer or the plumbing inspector. Any residence, hotel, boarding house, etc., using septic tenks for sewaga disposal will ba required to use" "rease trap for kitchen wasta. Such grease trap and tile line must meet the epproval of the plumbing inspector. All tile line for septic tank end grease trap must be laid as near the surface of the ground as is practicable at a grade to be approved by the inspector and underlaid and overlaid with cinders, rock, or oyster shells in quentities to be approved in each individual locelity by the plumbing inspector.
