REGULAR MONTHLY MEETING, BOARD OF
HEALTH HELD IN OFFICE OF BOARD

Present: Chairman Addison Hewlett, Mr. H. M.
Roland, Mayor Thomas E. Cooper, Dr. B. R. Morrison, and
Dr. W. Houston Moore.
Minutes of the last meeting read and approved.
Monthly reports presented.
A group of ladies representing the interests of
the Public Health Nursing Association appeared before the
Board and through their speaker Mrs. D. R. McEachern
requested that some travel allowance be given the two city
nurses. They suggested the amount of $10 per month to
help them defray the expenses of operating their own cars.
This request applies only to the two white nurses now
using their own cars in their work. The board members
expressed a willingness to appropriate this provided the
appropriating authorities find the money available.
The Health Officers, Mr. J. B. Edwards and Mr.
W. C. Haas were authorized to use one car and attend the
annual meeting of the state Health Officers Association
in Pinehurst, May 19 and 20.
At the request of the Health Officer, Mr.
Schrader, Plumbing Inspector, was granted a supplemental
travel allowance of $20 per month, effective April 1
and lasting as long as the unusual rush of building
demands so much extra travel.

After reporting -tfre'lr inability to secure a
young physician as clinician for the department, the
Health Officer. were authorized to employ Dr. Gertrude
Dooneief to do the clinic work in the Court House and Dr.
J. W. Willcox to do the outside calls.

The Health Officer, were instructed to ask three
Certified Public Accountants to bid on auditing the depart-
ment's books.

On the Health Officer's request it was moved
by Mr. Roland & seconded by Dr. Moore that Miss Nmcy
Eakins be employed as secretary at a salary of $75 per
month.
