Morrison and Mr. Roland. '- The minutes of the last m~etinf "ere read "nd approved. The Health Officer ~,resemted the lilonthly reports. !;;rs. Hughes, HI'S. Stone and Miss J.lunds appeared before the Board and re(~ested the Board members to employ a elerk for the Supervising Nurse and employ an additional public health nurse to replace lJiss Uercer, formerly paid chiefly by the Red Cross, whose salary is goinf to be discontinued by that orf'mization July 1. The Board took this re~uest under consideration. !.ir. Woodus Kellum appeared before the Board on behalf of the Town of Carolina Beach and explained that the Health Department's present re- gulations require cast iron pipe with leaded joints in connecting residences to the Tmm system and explained further that because of war conditions cast iron is not available. He rer]uested permission to use glazed terra cotta in place of cast iron. Kellum and submit it to tbe Sbte Bourd of Health for their approval. This motil!m carried. Lr. Gcoree rt. Hoore and Lr. Chas. ~. Davis appeareD before the Board to renuest its members to try to get, throurh corrmunication with the proper anny officials, some modification of the band on plumbing materials. It was then moved by Dr. l.:oore, seconded by Lr. Roland, that the Board make an effort to 3ecure such release of plumbin[' materials. Carried. 1l.ccording to the t.!orth C::.rolina State law, the Hc;ulth Officer presented for the Board's consideration a t.e!ltative budt;et for the y"ar 1942-43. He explain"d to the Board !'lembers, hOHever, that it was impo3sibl" to intelli[ently pr<csent a budget because of the fact that be('ilming July 1 all Health Departl,lents Yiould be compelled to work under the 1.erit System.
