SEPTEMBER 9, 1943
\.
Present: Mr. Addison Hewlett, Dr. Morrison, Dr. Wessell and
Mr. Roland, and Mayor Cameron.
The minutes of the last meeting were read and approved.
The Health Officer presented the monthly reports.
Mr. Wm. B. Campbell, City Attorney, discussed before the Board
the public health aspects of any rat control program and then
read to the Board members a rodent control ordinance as drawn up
by him, after which it was moved by Mayor Cameron and seconded by
Dr. Wessell that the Ordinance be adopted. The motion carried and
a copy of the Ordinance is attached. After the adoption of the
Ordinance the Health Officer was instructed to request lIr. J. A.
Orrell, County Auditor and Mr. J. R. Benson, City Treasurer, to work
out the best lIa.vbof handling the financial part of the rodent control
program.
It was moved by Dr. Wessell and seconded by Dr. Morrison that the

(original pasteurization date set October 1) as the date for pasteu-
rization of all milk. Motion carried.
Mayor Cameron asked the Health Officer to read to the Board members
some letters from Mr. White to the Health Officer, the Health Officer
to Mayor Cameron and Mr. Campbell regarding the appropriation for
mosquito control work. No official action was taken.
,
Mr. J. B. Edwards, dairy inspector, reported to the Board the fact that
the War Department was urging him very strongly to make his services as
Sr. Bacteriologist available to the Army as they were unable to secure
anything like the required number of such personnel. He asked the Board
to give him a leave of absence for the duration in case he accepted a
commission in the Army as Bacteriologist. After a brief discussion the
Board members ruled that, in their opinion, his services were DIOre urgently
needed here because of the unusual program of supplying milk to Camp Davis
and the shipyard which program he is in personal charge of. For that reason
they declined to give him a leave of absence.
,
There being no further business the meeting adjourned.
