REGULAR MONTHLY MEETING BOARD OF HEALTH

Present: Mr. Addison Hewlett, Mr. Roland, Dr. Wessell.
The minutes of the last meeting were read and approved.
The Health Officer presented the monthly reports.
Mr. Edwards reluested the Board to officially adopt some regulation
covering our exceptions to the Standard Milk Ordinance on milk coming
from areas beyond our jurisdiction. It was moved by Mr. Roland and
seconded by Dr. Wessell that the following resolution be adopted;
"The Consolidated Board of Health, in meeting assembled, recognizes
that unusual conditions have made it impossible to secure adequate
quantities of milk of a bacterial standard equal to that available
during normal times.
This Board having confidence in the training, ability end honesty of
its personnel, does, hereby, confirm the instructions given to the
Health Officer and those responsible for the enforcement of the milk
program more than a year ago to use their judgment in the matter of the
quality of the milk permitted in this area to be pasteurized abd labeled
Grade A.

It is furthermore resolved, that, at this time, there; be spread upon
the minutes of the Consolidated Board of Health of New Hanover County
and City of Wilmington the following resolution:

RESOLVED, that, in face of the emergency created by war conditions, the
bacterial count of the milk for pasteurization be left to the discretion
of the Health Officer and the milk personnel. That the milk accepted by
them, in their opinion, shall at all times be of a safe quality and of
the highest quality available, and shall be the first grade of milk for
pasteuru.ation at the place of production.

That all milk laws now in force concerning raw milk remain as now on
the books,"
It was agreed that it should ~e noted in the minutes that this resolution
was adopted in confirmation of similar plans verbally agreed upon several
months ago.
