REGULAR MONTHLY MEETING BOARD OF HEALTH
HELD IN OFFICE OF BOARD
OCTOBER 11, 1945
Present: Mr. Addison Hewlett, Chairman, Mayor VI. Ronald Lane, Dr.
J. C. Wessell, Dr. W. Houston Moore, Mr. H. M. Roland and Dr. JaJ1V3S
H. Smith.
The minutes of the last meeting were read and approved.
The Health Officer presented the monthly re ports.
The Health Officer read to the Board members a letter from Mr. Kenneth
Marshall, SecretaIj' Wilmington Board of Realtors, and trn carbon of his
reply to Mr. Marshall, regarding vacant lots. The Board members ex-
pre ssed themselves as feeling that our departIOOnt should cooperate in
a~ way possible on the cleaning of vacant lots, but that we had no
police power or could take no court action in such matters from a public
health standpoint.
The matter of collecting over due acc~unts in the Rat Control program
was discussed and it was the Board's opinion that the normal channel
through which such funds should be handled is the City-County Tax office.
