The minutes of the last mEeting were read ~d approved.
The Health Officer presented the monthly reports.
The Health Officer announced to the Board members the resignation
of Miss ~dna \Joody, Laboratory Technician, effective January 31.
After a brief discussion it w~s moved by Dr. Wessell, seconded by
Mr. Roland, that we accept hliss ',Ioody's resignation with regrets
and that the Health Officer be instructed to write her a letter ex-
pressing the Board's sincere regrets at her resignation. Carried.
The Health Officer r"ported to the doaru members that he WaS informed
by the City Manager that Horse Pond Drain had been considered a private
drainage system and that the City would not attempt to repair any stoPPaee
of this drainage system. The Health Officer expressed his opinion to the
effect that if allowed to remain stopped up during the summer months it
would constitute a very definite health hazard from a standpoint of
mosquito breeding and also,to a certain extent, a health hazard from the
st~dpoint of sanitation as there is apparently a slight amount of sewaee
in the Horse Pond Drain. Mayor Lane suegested that the matter be left
opened and he would see if he could not work out some solution with the
City officials.
The Health Officer advised the Board members of the cOIllillunication from
the Carolina Beach officials to the effect that in view of a ruling
from the ~ttomey General's office they would appoint a plumbing in-
spector for Carolina Beach. After a brief discussion, it WaS moved by
Dr. Wessell, seconded by Mayor Lane, that this Board will accept and
abide by the opinion of the City and County Attorneys.
