The minutes of the last meeting were read and approved.
The Health Officer presented the monthly reports.
Dr. R. P. HUffman, Food and Dairy Inspector, explained to the members
of the Board that he had been called on to inspect the food materials
on the boats to be stored up in the Brunswick River Reserve Fleet here.
~y food materials on these boats has to be approved for sale or con-
delnned. The Public Health Service has reported to the shipping officials
that they have no one to station here to do this work.
The Board's reaction Was that this was not Dr. Huffman's or our department's
field of duty as these boats come from all locations and anything sold
from them might be redistributed to any part of the country. In view of
of that condition it was moved by Dr. Lioore, seconded by M1l,yor Lane, that
Dr. Huffman be perlnitted to do this work and charge a fee for it as part
of his private practice. Carried.
The Health Officer explained to the Board members that since planning
to discontinue the DlJI' Dusting and Rat Baiting proiT3Jll for two months
during the winter, the State and Federal officials had urgently reCOll-
Inended that the program employ two men instead of three and run on con-
tinuously to June 30, 1947, as the laying off of one employee for the
rest of the budget year ,'[ould amount to about the same saving as discon-
tinuing the entire program for two months. It waS moved by Dr. lLoore,
seconded by Mayor Lane, that such procedure be followed.

The location of the dwnping ground for \Irightsville Beach was discuosed,
and the Health Ofr.'icer and the Sanitary Engineer were directed to work
out a satisfactory location with the ITrightsville beach officials.
There being no further business, the meeting adjourned.
