Present: Mr. Raeford G. Trask, Chainnan; Mayor Dan D. Cameron, Dr. J. C.
Wessell, Dr. James H. Smith, Dr. J. C. Knox and Mr. H. M. Roland.
On motion by Dr, Wessell, seconded by Dr. Knox, the reading of the minutes
of the last meeting was dispensed with.
Dr. Wessell reported that he had discussed with Dr. J. Calvin MacKay the
establishment of an out-patient tuberculosis clinic in the health department
with Dr. MacKay in attendance at a salary of $300.00 per month. (Funds for
this clinic having been approved by the appropriatingwthorities as requested
in the health department budget for the fiscal year 1956-1957). The clinic is
to be held each Tuesday morning for a period of two hours; time to be extended
if it becomes necessary. In emergency tuberculosis cases, Dr. MacKay will also
make home visits. Dr. MacKay's duties will also consist of reading and inter-
preting the X-ray films.
On motion made by Dr, Smith, Dr. Wessell will represent the Board of Health in an
advisory capacity with Dr. MacKay in this tuberculosis work. Motion seconded by
Dr. Knox and carried.

At the request of the Health Officer, permission was granted, on motion by Dr.
Wessell seconded by Mayor Cameron, to use unexpended budget items to take care
of over-expended budget items for the fiscal year 1955-1956. Carried.

In discussing the polio program, it was brought out that the colored people
were not responding too well. It was suggested that the colored ministers be
contacted to make announcements in their churches regarding this matter.
There being no further business, the meeting adjourned.
