and Mr. Richard (Dick) Heier from Wrigbtsville Beach, appeared before t.he Board
t~iscl1ss a recent ordinance passed by the Board 1II1icla ordiDance requiru a a1n:illum
lot size of 15,000 square reet if the builder has t.o install a septic tank and a
well; and a miniDmll size lot of 10,000 square feet wit.h a septic tank amd a public
water supply.
Mrs.. Strickland pointed eut that lots at Carolina Beach are slightly over 7,000
square feet. amd that this septic tank ordiDance would lI&ke it iapossible to sell
lots at Carolina Beach, lfilmhgtOD and Haale Beaches, and would just. abeut kill
any new building at these beaches. Mr. Lens agreed with t.he st.at_ent ade by
Hrs. strickland and Mr. Heier st.ated the Sllllle would apply t.o Wrightsville Beach.
The group urged that the Board lower or delete the lot size requirement :iJl the
ordiunce. It was pointed out by the Board that the ordinance includes a provisioD
that would allow smaller size lots, in the discretion of the Health Officer or his
authorized agent.; proTided, it lI.eets necessary sanitary qualifieatiens all to water
supply and sewage disposal. It was tae opinion of Kayor CameroR that the ordinall.ce
is all right. Dr. Wessell _de the statement. that no lot, regardless of size, should
be used if it. will not take care of a septic tank. Following a gell.eral discusaion of

The Health Officer called to the Board's attentioB the fact that nthout proper
facilities it was impossible to enforce the ordinance passed soaet.iae ago regarding
the collection and dispoeal of garbage and trash in the Cov.nty, and he felt that

Engineer, and the Health Officer, to confer wit.h Mr. Benson, Cit.y Kanager, regarding
