cussed the matter. In their opinion there was a possibility of harmful radiation
in the fitting of shoes by fluoroscopic machines and that it should not be pel'-
lIIitted. A letter appearing in the Health Bulletin for the enth of August 1957
to the Retail Shoe Merchants indicated that the State Board of Health was opposed
to this method of shoe fitting. This letter was signed by Dr. William M. Peck,
Assistant Director. Division of Epidemiology.

These students will represent thirteen foreign countries and among them are doctors,

No official statement had been received from the State Board of Health regarding
the Asiatic Flu vaccine, but many inquiries regarding it are being received by the
Health Department. It was reported that the New Haaover County Tuberculosis and
Health Association would help in pu.rchasing this vaccine when available for tubel'-
culosis patients.
Following a lengthy discussion, as a matter of policy, the Board of Health thinks
that the administration and the pu.rchase of the vaccine should be through normal
commercial channels only, and that the administrat.ion should be done by private
physicians.
On DIOtion by Dr. Smit.h, seconded by Dr. Knox, the meeting adjourned.
